Loma has eye glasses thickness of end of a bottle

I see Lomo wears glasses. They seem to be thick as well. Typically, the thicker the eye glasses are the more trouble folks have seeing. However, he's able to do unbelievable feats in the ring, offensively and defensively. I dont suppose contacts are allowed since you get punched in the face over and over, possibly causing more permanent damage to the eye(s) (sockets).
Surely having to wear glasses to see better should cause some disadvantage?
I'm an idiot on the subject - I dont wear glasses nor have I boxed before. Those who have boxed and wear glasses, what is your perspective of the subject?

 

i dont think they're 'real' glasses, as in prescription. they are just a fashion accessory.

seriously though, I thought it was actually about some kind of joke.

 

They looked pretty thick for fakes. I thought it was a joke. At the face off I was half expecting Loma to turn around and to see crazy spirals in the lenses.

He got them at Walmart when he bought that shirt he's wearing at the press conference.

 

I wear glasses too, its a nightmare to see round the gym but up close with your opponent you dont really notice anything.

 

Weeks needs someone to boot him in the bollix a couple times, remind him what it feels like. Then someone hand him the specs as he straightens up !
