The sadist in me was imagining Elbiali vs Kovalev as early as round 2, might have even been round 1 actually. I was wondering how many flush Kovalev rights he would've be able to absorb before crashing face first to the canvas. He's a tough guy and he has a good chin but I'm struggling to recall seeing a fighter whose defence was so nonexistent as his. I'd love to know what Pascal's power punch connect rate was, because I reckon it must've been crazy high.

Even at this Stage of their careers Bute vs Pascal would be the bigger draw. Stevenson is popular but it's just not on the level. Stevenson is on the popularity level of Adrian Diaconu in quebec. Bute is the most famous person in quebec that doesnt play hockey or sing "my heart will go on"

I love fights in Quebec. They always have beautiful bikini go go girls in cages gyrating between rounds. Love those French Canadian girls.

I don't think he ever posed a thread for anyone in the top 10. Pascal was a slight question because age and how inactive he is. his boy Held pascal which is the worst thing you can do vs a guy that wants to save stamina, pascal was happy to be held.

I agree that Bute vs. Pascal outsells Stevenson vs. anyone but that's why I'm saying them roll them both into one gargantuan event as co-features and it would shatter domestic records.

Elbiali is basically no better than a Seanie Monaghan, just got marketed better for a spell.

Maybe you are right but Pascal vs Bute was wanted so badly and felt once in a life time and a better part of their career thought it was still a tad bit late. I feel stevenson fan base is a borrowed fan base, there arent many Stevenson fans who arent also Pascal fans. but there are a lot of pascal fans that could give half a **** about Stevenson.

The fight indeed went the way it needed to for pascal to win. Ill give credit to Pascal on this one. He's still better off retiring or doing exhibition type fights.

Rematches always do a tad worse than first encounters (with few exceptions), and especially so if the first was a letdown compared with heightened expectations. See the relatively poor numbers for Ward vs. Kovalev II, for instance. Throwing in the Stevenson factor just bolsters it back up (particularly if fans could be fooled into thinking either Bute or Pascal, if victorious and if they looked "good", might be waiting in the wings to eschew retirement and have a go @ Superman..)
