Apparently Skoglund did some sparring a few days ago and received a internal bleeding, and afterwards was rushed to the hospital where he had a operation and was put a medically induced coma, hopefully he gets better. Sauerland's statement This content is protected
This is such a tough sport. Dont have a son but if i had i wouldnt want him being a boxer. Dudes can take as big or bigger beatings in tough sparring sessions as they do in a match. Not always but it can happen, especially if you get some wound up dude that gets you staggered and then just starts teeing off on you before anyone can stop him. Hope this dude wakes up ok.
It might well be the end of his boxing career... I hope he fully recovers and will be able to do something else with his life.
That's a shame.... Had him winning his upcoming fight with Fielding handily... He performed with major credit against Smith. Hopefully he'll get out of this with his faculties intact, but it's safe to say that his career is over regardless.
Yes, I surely hope that if he walks away from this, he'll also be smart enough to walk away from boxing. We don't want another Blackwell type drama.
Blackwell is an idiot.... He survived a traumatic brain injury with his faculties pretty much completely intact. He's a moron and the gym/sparring partners that actually allowed him to spar should be ashamed.
That's a crying shame. Likely the end of his career. After a fine performance against Smith. Feel really sorry for him.
Could probably get a German license if he recovers but in Sweden no. Hopefully he can return to a normal life with his family and maybe can find an other, non fighting, position within boxing.
Another father son tragedy.. It seems the father always pushes the son too far, I'm just saying. I believe in coincidences I just have never seen one.
yeah I don't think its healthy father and son. Majority of the time there seems no balance. Either over protective or push them too much !
Watch the words you choose you're on the outside looking in. The Coach/light heavyweight who sparred Blackwell are just as much to blame. Blackwell loved boxing and heard of others who boxed after similar brain injuries. I think boxers, trainers and everyone can learn from the situation but don't call the poor kid hurtful words. You better send some positive energy towards Nick Blackwell.
What a shame.Wishing Erik all the best for a good recovery.Hope he wins this fight in double quick time.
