For the people saying Kell Brook has no heart, they should watch this round. A severely injured and one-eyed Brook comes back off the canvas and goes toe to toe with Spence for the rest of the round which even Spence acknowledges with a nod at the end. Spine-chilling.
Watching that really makes me want to see Brook come again! And a massive shame it's taking so long to see Spence again, badly managed!
Like the honourable first replier in this thread said; after watching this video incase your memory is abit vague about the fight, you can't questions brook's heart or even crendentials. Brook is probably one of the few fighters right now that still can retain some sort of high stock even after defeats. I mean if he wasn't overweight so much after the spence KO loss he would of been fighting cotto this past early December
I love this fight!! Brook and Spence fighting it out toe to toe and Spence slowly grinding Brook down with body and head punches.
This is what Brook had to go through after GGG wrecked his eye socket, in addition to all the worry that he might lose his sight in the eye and never be able to box again. 'Brook's trainer Dominic Ingle last week compared the injuries to those suffered by car crash victims, while the Sheffield boxer was even told at hospital it could have cost him his sight. "They took my eye out and went in through my mouth and into my eye to get the titanium plate put in place," Brook told ESPN. "They then drilled in three or four screws. That's what it were, pretty gruesome, but that's what were necessary.' You don't think that as soon as his other eye went against Spence it took immense heart for him to continue knowing that he would likely have to go through it all over again? Experiencing something like that once is going to take something out of you psychologically, let alone having to go through it twice. And don't forget that 2 fights before he fought GGG he nearly died after getting his leg slashed up machete style. And that was like only a month after experiencing the high of winning his world title too. He didn't even know if he was going to be able to walk again never mind continue boxing. He had to go through a lot soul searching after all that happened too. He seemed depressed, almost like a broken man, in that interview I saw from the other day.
He definitely has a champions heart. He came back too soon against Spence unfortunately. He was still damaged from the broken orbital bone he suffered against GGG. I mean....it was healed, but usually after surgery to implant a steel plate to replace and reinforce bone....it takes time for the body to calcify and really make the structure strong. A banger like Spence was a very dangerous rebound fight that happened way too soon after that kind of facial trauma
That eye really was a mess. Nothing you could do both times for brook. Ingle was right to pull him the first time...and maybe a little too late not pulling him out the second time. Gets me annoyed they put him in with golovkin in the first place and pretty much mismanaged his career for years. He could have and should have done a lot more in his career. Good win against porter tho, good pay day against golovkin. And good competitive fight against Spence. Who it must be said is very very good.
This. He was impatient and made a very poor career decision. He mortgaged his career for the GGG payday. Despite getting $5 million he's damaged goods now, since that eye socket will be his achilles heel for the rest of his career.
I've always said Spence didn't beat a 100% Brook, theres demons there now from his injury from GGG, now its happened twice. Full on G Brook is for taking such a hard comeback fight after his socket going the first time. I think though, if I was his trainer/manager I would've steered him away from GGG and definitely would've had something to say about Spence as his first fight back, I mean, he had options. That interview your on about with him seeming depressed I picked up on as well, he couldn't hide it, he physically looked depressed too. Head down, like his spirit is broken ! lol, I've repeated you a bit here haven't I ! I should've just post "This" lol
Yes. Look when Joe Smith Jr. suffered a broken jaw for the second time when he fought Barrera, the thought of having to go through the hell of having it wired shut for 6-8 weeks and drinking his dinner through a straw and losing 40lbs of weight again clearly weighed heavy on his mind during the remainder of the fight. Brook deserves enormous credit for hanging in as long as he did and fighting back hard. Yes I think it was a bad idea to stick him in against GGG in the first place and it was doubly stupid to then put him in against Spence for his first fight back after that one.
Yes I really do feel for him, hopefully he can remain injury free from here on in and get back to into the mix at world level.
