There isn't much need to point out everything that wasn't in his favor. The deck was stacked against him. So did fans want to see him go out on his back, clinch until he was disqualified, or just make it the distance even if it was complete shutout?
I expected a JMM vs Mayweather fight. It was pretty much that. I didn't expect the quit/excuse job from Rigo.
By many, even most as the fight came closer. But looking back at is last 3 years of Rigo, we let ourselves beleive.
It's the idiots who actually thought he was going to win that needed to see that so they realise how little they know about boxing
I said the moment the fight was announced that this would be an easy fight for Lomachenko, I just didn't see how Rigo had anything to trouble Loma.
I dont see the link there. Thats was two defensive guys facing off, with one having the edges. There where no room for question marks.
that's how I called it as well, bringing up that fight in one of the pre-fight threads. quit job was predicted by Loma himself, but I expected Rigo to make it to the final bell, landslide behind on the cards.
Fans hoped to see a competitive match up. I had my doubts, due to the age, and size difference, but I support my fighters regardless. I knew Loma would be faster, quicker etc. but hoped Rigs would somehow get some of his quickness back when motivated for a challenging opponent. I knew it was a done deal when Pedro Diaz got frustrated with Rigondeaux.
Lomachenko despite being bigger was also fat far faster. I thought Rigo was prepared for his angles, but even when he tried to counter Lomachenko moving around, Loma would still make him miss. It wasn't the size i saw in the first round that decided the fight for me, it was the speed. PAC beat the **** out of Margarito because he was quicker than him. Loma beat the **** out of Rigo because he was quicker than him
I didn't see Rigo get the **** beat out of him. He was being outclassed for sure but could not land from his preferred range and didn't want to attempt to fight on the inside so he resorted to holding. In the end he realized he bit off far more than he could chew. I said before the fight I doubt Rigondeaux could be competitive with a top 10 Jr. Lightweight and even favored a few guys at 126 over him he never belonged above 122.
I think people expected more from Rigo, Loma was just too good, flawless performance. If Loma went up to 140lbs and faced Bud, he'd be dominated in the same fashion though, I'd stake my mortgage on it. A lot of Loma fans would think he can jump those weights, and give Bud a challenge, and afterwards Loma would be classed as rubbish by being defeated so easily. Bud would get no credit at all as well for beating Loma at 140lbs, it is what it is. Bud vs Loma at 135lbs would give me a hard-on, as would Loma vs Rigo at 126lbs. 2 weight classes though, its just too damn much.
Exactly. And The only size that mattered here was ****ing brain size! And obviously Loma dwarfed him there. Add his speed advantage to that and we saw what happened.
