He showed up to get paid I thought at least he would have spoiled enough to see a wide UD loss but he didn't have it in him.
Lomachenko totally out classed Rigo, made Rigo look like a fool..............I am surprised that Rigo landed any punches! Rigo did not hurt his hand, how could he have, hell, he didn't land anything to hurt it.................the corner said it was the right hand, then said it was the left hand, Rigo was still throwing the left hand, I saw no problem in the fight with his hand.............did not matter, Rigo was in over his head.................
Agree. Rigo has been very inactive and has fought only 3 rounds in the last couple of years. 37 at lower weight classes is really old. The bottom line though proved from this contest and the way Rigo quit is that he never faced a Lomachenko type of fighter before.
Yep, he even threw a couple of desperate hayemakers. This was something uncharacteristic of someone of his calibre. He knew he was done losing more than a couple of rounds in a row. He knew he was outclassed after the 4, 3 minute rounds he is used to and then decided he might be able to save some credibility by not being outclassed over 12 full rounds.
He outclassed him. Made him look like a fool though? No. Rigs didn't get beat up, for all of the alleged 55 punches that landed, maybe one or two were not pity pat, and Rigs took it all fine. Rigs may have hurt his hand, more than likely his pride. He did punch Loma's elbow a couple times when going to the body. Hopefully it is a real injury and not just embarrassment. He asked for that spanking, against a guy bigger, younger, stronger guy with quicker feet, and the fight was too fast for him. Most disappointing was the fact that I only saw like one or two left hand counter attempts on the move. He never once tried to throw counters while slipping and dodging Loma's pity pat, the counter was there while Loma was punching. Have to take one to give one. He was getting pity patted up anyway, may as well of tried to exchange.
He did seem to punch Loma's elbow a couple times while going to the body, it's possible, but not likely. For his sake hopefully there is a real injury there. Definitely not a good look for him.
He looked like a fool. He landed 2 punches per round and none of them hard or clean. With that said he quit after 6 rounds without taking any damage. Quitting like that is made to look a fool. Better to look outclassed than quit. And who knows? It was only going to get worse as the rounds went on. Lomachenko was progressively winning more round by round. Now that the ref took a point away for clinching he nullified Rigo's only form of defense against an elite fighter which is to hold. Rigo was on the verge of getting a DQ for clinching which may be even more embarrassing than no mas. Loma was getting ready to go to town on his ass. He was 37, outclassed and still had 6 more rounds of clowning left. He chose to not get further humiliated. Make no mistake, Rigo was completely stripped apart and made to look like a bar room brawler.
No fighter gets full credit beating a 37 year old fighter who's moving up 2 weight classes while the other guy is prime. If that's the case every other boxer who has done the same thing should get full credit to. You can't pick and choose who you give and don't give credit to so just stop it. Russell jr is lomas best win not rigo. He was prime and actually showed up to fight.
