No, his standing had not changed much, hes maintained a solid P4P standing for the last 4 years with every publication.

Yes, no links necessary. Of course your campaign to downgrade Rigo's worth as an opponent began when this fight was announced....

He can't be number 1 pfp because he has lost, and he didn't rematch the man who beat him. Shane Mosley couldn't beat Forrest but he had to rematch him and he did very well in the rematch. Shane has my utmost respect. Kostya Tszyu was ranked very high and after he lost to Phillips and didn't rematch him, people still held him in high regard. I come from the era of Saad Muhammad so I might be a biased, but I'm not wrong. Rematches matter.

Well I agree. Guys like Rigo, who is so used to having it his way. So used to completely neutralizing his opponents offense and making himself look like boxing's ultimate boogeyman. He was so accustomed to completely dictating the terms of a fight. Then all of a sudden somebody is right in front of Rigo landing on him. Meanwhile, it's getting to the point where Rigo cannot land a punch. He flat out cannot lay a glove on his opponents head or body without it being some glancing or partially blocked blow. It got so utterly bad for Rigo that he simply could not hit Lomachenko.

God I wish this fight would have lasted a few more rounds. For even further embarrassment.

This is dumb. Pacquiao lost twice early in his career as well. Never rematched them and rose to #1 p4p.

I actually do agree with you on the size. His size advantages hes had in these wins matter. I look forward to seeing how Loma will do against, hopefully, the larger opponents he will face (would love if they actually made Loma vs Garcia, but it wont happen)

Taking an ass kicking is much easier besides the physical pain part. Getting clowned makes you want to preserve pride. You quit so that you don't get filmed on TV looking like a bar room brawler against a professional, well schooled fighter.

Getting destroyed completely annihilates your pride. If you are flat on your back laying down on the canvas with your opponent standing over you that's humbling. He's destroyed you.

Rigo, Walters, etc. They knew that Loma wasn't going to put them on the canvas. So they held on to some pride and quit. It's really, really cowardly though.

This was the most vicious public embarrassment of a fighter since Mike Tyson brutally embarrassed all those guys in the 80s.

He definitely should have gotten a rematch with Salido but it wasn't Loma's decision. Just because he has a loss doesn't mean he can't be ranked #1. There has been fighters who were ranked #1 had losses. Based on he's most recent opponents and his performances he definitely deserves the recognition. The Salido loss happened but he wasn't dominated and he had taken that fight in only his 2nd match as a pro.

Lomachenko tried to get Salido to rematch him, but Salido refused the big money fight! Salido's big mistake. Lomachenko would have stopped Salido. Salido did not beat Lomachenko anyway, Laurence Cole beat Lomachenko..........and the biased judges who called it a spit decision win for Salido, even though Salido was out on his feet in the last round, Salido hit after the bell, low blows, elbows, headbutts, holding, etc., Cole is the worst referee in boxing......................in the old days is was unusual to see undefeated fighters, they all lost at one time or another, they did own the judges like Void, Void lost to Castillo and Oscar..............Conor does not count at all as he was not a boxer, not ranked at all, his record was 0-0-0!

Well, due to the size difference I didn't intend on giving much credit to Loma. He even said himself it wasn't a great win at all. What I didn't expect was it to be so one-sided. Short of ducking very low and missing with a counter left, Rigo really offered nothing. Those multitude of feints from Loma really threw him off his game and I was surprised to see he looked the much faster of the two, though I guess that's the additional weight on Rigo's part.

Still can't believe people were picking Rigo to win on here. Well, actually I can.

And that quit was an absolute shocker.

That was actually why the fight didn’t happen because I’m sure bob offered Salido like 300-400 k just like Walters and Rigo. Unlike Rigo and Walters who were shelved and starved out, Salido didn’t allow himself to take the short end of the stick.

It was a great profile boost.
And the biggest fight of Lomas pro career.

Salido would get embarassed if he accepted the rematch. And that’s why he won’t.

He knows he got away with every cheap trick in the book to eek out a win.

Loma would simply destroy him in a rematch. He learned tremendously from that fight.

    Destroy.

He won't be pfp #1 in my book for a long time on my list. He's penalized in my book. I only put him in my pfp top 10 because he fought another pfp entrant.

Right on! Bernard Hopkins' unavenged loss to debut fighter Clinton Mitchell hurts his legacy greatly and its why he'll never be greater than, say, Golovkin. :eusa_whistle:
