But the dumb**** young fans are so damn annoying. He's about the same size as Roberto Duran who moved up from lightweight. At 21 he beat Ken Buchannan (43-1) for the lightweight title (there was no Jr. Lightweight at the time, or the 5-6 1/2 Duran would have fought there. He lost in a non-title fight to Estaban DeJesus and avenged it by knocking him out TWICE. He defended the lightweight title 13 times in 6 years (they fought a lot of non-title fights back then. He then moved up to defeat, arguably, the greatest welterweight of all time (and the greatest fighter I have seen in my lifetime) Sugar Ray Leonard. Then he lost a close decision for the JWWT title to 5-10" hall of famer Wilfredo Benitez, the youngest guy EVER to win a world title The he went to junior-middleweight full-time and almost killed Davey Moore, at the time probably the best prospect in boxing, for the JMWT title. Then FIVE MONTHS LATER he went to Middleweight to fight one of the greatest middleweights of all time and lost a close decision. Then SEVEN MONTHS LATER he fought Tommy Hearns the 6-2" hardest puncher in the world. The THREE YEARS LATER at age 38, he beat 6-1" 180 lb. Iran Barkley for the Middlewight title. (Who a few years later bulked up to Heavyweight to beat Gerrie Coetzee He beat Jorge Castro (101-5) at supermiddleweight at FORTY-SIX years old. This was Roberto Duran. And you are writing all this dumb **** about a guy with 10 fights who dragged an old man up two weight classes? Dude, let me tell you something. Bob Arum and Lomachenko came staight out and said that Crawford, at 5-8 140 lbs. was too big for him. Let me tell you, I like Bud, but he wouldn't have had a snowball's chance in hell to got 12 with SRL, Hearns or Hagler. NO chance, theres 10 miles gap in talent between Bud and those guys. But Duran fought them all. And against two out of three he did quite well.
I dont think anyone is comparing Loma to Duran dude. Roberto Duran is an ATG LEGEND. Loma is still making his bones. He still has loads to prove as a pro.
Yeah, that's nice and all, but you're talking about the era of low-tech boxing. Duran ain't in no Matrix. /thread
Not criticizing the thread, just commenting on how nobody wants to question Duran's Greatness when compared to Loma. I'm sure they'll be a few, but both Duran and Loam are special.
