I've found that strength is beneficial in boxing and actually has carryover. Many boxers love weightlifting and strength training, so why they should be robbed of this. Speed work and technique drill should be the main priority, of course. A good way is to employ straightforward and simple methods for gaining strength like 5/3/1. You don't get it. Your capacity will go up, but your overall strength won't. Where's the proof of that? How is your overall strength being tested if you're just knocking out reps of push up's? Is the strongest man on earth the man who lifts weights or just does calisthenics?
So if I can do 20 reps with 200 lbs on a bench press will my 1 rep max be the same as when I could only do 5 reps?
It's subjective to how you test physical strength. Maybe one guy can squat the most weight in the world but another guy can deadlift the most weight in the world.
Not really. Many of the worlds strongest men are not far off each others numbers in their respective weight classes. Anybody with a brain will tell you that bodyweight exercises have zero resistance. The better option to GET STRONGER is to use weights.
Strength is subjective on how you test it. If one guy can lift most in a squat but not the most in a deadlift is he the strongest? Bodyweight exercises do have resistance. It's called bodyweight lol. I'm pretty sure you're a troll or a 13 year old. Maybe both.
The strongest men in the world lift weights, period. They don't rely on bodyweight exercises as the bulk of their S&C program. No elite athlete does. Jesus, you are dense. Seriously, try this on a weightlifting site and see where you get with it.
Of course I do. You answered your own question. If you can lift 200lbs 20 times, 5 times will CLEARLY be easy. But using high rep schemes = muscular endurance. Low rep schemes - strength/power.
So who are the strongest men in the world? By what standard are they being tested? Why are they being tested using these means?
That doesn't answer my question. Maybe you didn't understand it the first time. Let's say today I can lift 200 lbs for 5 reps as MAX REPS my 1 rep max turns out to be 225 lbs. A year later I test my MAX REPS on 200 lbs and observe that I can lift it for 20 reps. When I go to test my 1 rep max will my 1 rep max go up or down from 225 lbs?
