Pep v Pedroza?

Not enough power. I see the master boxer Pep winning decisions.

 

I think once Pep works out Pedroza's patterns (4-5 rounds) he stays one step ahead and wins a 10-5 or 11-4 type decision.

 

Yes this is how I envisage it too.

 

Pedroza might be a tad underrated because of his dirty tactics , but I can't see Eusebio showing Pep anything he couldn't deal with. Pedroza loses 11-4 and gets frustrated badly. Knowing the judges though with Pedroza Willie probably gets a split decision

 

I think it would really come down to what kind of referee ended up in place for the fight, or you'd have Pedroza trying to get away with murder.

A lot of things changed between that generational gap between Pedroza and Peps prime.

 

Pedroza was a very underrated boxer in addition to being a nasty, filthy infighter. I don't see Pep having a terribly easy time with the Panamanian either at range or in close. This is one of the fights that really could have ended up with a SD that legitimately could have gone either way.

 

Willie knew how to handle himself when things got rough. He was well schooled in those tactics.

 

Maybe against his average opponent, but Saddler out did him in that department and bested him multiple times. Pedraza himself was capable of some other, ehm... exceptional roughness in the ring.

 

Saddler was a unique talent at Featherweight. I`m not sure we have seen anyone quite like him since. He was knocking out lightweights in his spare time. Apart from that Willie Pep was probably past his prime when he fought Sandy. That was post plane crash.

 

Saddler's a different kettle of fish, with enormous power to boot. He's close to the greatest feather ever H2H i reckon. Pedroza was underrated and was a brilliant boxer with loads of speed but Pep is still in a different category imo.

 

Agree plus Pep did manage to beat Saddler one night.

Pedroza didn't have great foot speed. I can see Pep boxing circles around him.

Look at the Bernard Taylor fight (a Draw). Pedroza never tracked him down or imposed his will in that fight. Bernard just ran a little too much to cement it.

 

That's a good fight to point out.
