The strongest men in the world fall into two categories (depending on who you ask):

    Power lifters
    Olympic lifters

1rm is their standard. You know, a ONE REP MAX?

They are tested using those means (weights & one rep maxes) because those means have defined what the "world's strongest man" is for forever and a day.

Rest assured, NOBODY is doing multiple press up's and claiming that crown.

If you clean & jerk 250kg+ or Deadlift half a ton or squat an absolute bucketload, you WILL be one of the strongest people (see top 3-5) out of SEVEN BILLION PEOPLE.

Nobody with common sense is calling anybody other than people who achieve those kind of feats the worlds strongest men/man.

You don't test max reps if you're testing strength, you test your 1rm.

It'd be way up, btw. It should be considering you've repped it out for 15 more reps!

Powerlifters are only tested in 3 movements. Why do these movements determine the worlds strongest person?

Olympic lifters are only tested in 2 movments. Why do these movements determine the worlds strongest person?

Why isn't strength determined by how strong a person is in a construction labor type job? Its common as hell to see guys who can lift big in the gym but can't do **** on a construction site.

You're living your life by standards that other people have made up.

Exactly that's what I'm saying. Therefore if you can do more reps you got stronger.

Personally, I'd rather do HIIT and or complexes. I guess lifting heavy doesn't appeal to me because I never had need of it. Stamina is a different issue though--that I needed.

Who do you class as the strongest men on earth then?

By your rational it's either bodybuilders or cross fitters.

At least you're catering to your needs, Butch.

I myself enjoy the cardio/endurance effect that complexes give. Used them for many years, but had some time off from them. Went back to one a few days ago and I was smoked. My body is still aching now!

It's always been that way. You are so discrediting those movements. As if ANYONE can lift those astronomical numbers! That takes strength that VERY FEW possess, buddy.

So what if as bricklayer can last longer than an olympic lifter on a building site? That should be a given, no? And how do you think a bricklayer would fare on a world class national lifting team?

No, YOU are trying to discredit the tried & tested means of strength. So come on, my know-it-all, who are the strongest men on earth and what do they do?

They're just made up. There is no objective standard. You're excuse is "It's always been that way" which is false. Powerlifting has only been around since the mid 20th century.

I'm not talking about lasting longer I'm talking about being able to lift heavier **** like big ass pipes, water heaters, etc that don't have a convenient grip like a bar and have to be carried over the shoulder. You probably have no idea what I'm talking about you're still in middle school.

So if I can do more reps with a given weight than I could before that means my 1 rep max didn't go up?

I've asked you for an answer. I've given you two answers.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. I shall be placing you on ignore.
