No Doubt about it ^. I saw a short interview with him and Mike Rossman together at some shipyard or similar type construction area talking.
He definitely is the real Rocky story. I remember reading an article in one of the boxing mags after he lost to Willy Edwards, that he was retiring, and had acting and modeling offers coming his way, and financially he was set for the rest of his life. Of course he ended up continuing boxing, I don't why the acting and modeling offers didn't come to fruition. But its too bad that he went from rags to riches and back to rags again.
Can you believe the audacity to make one about Carter before Saad? That's modern Hollywood I suppose.
Well, the one about Carter was quite interesting because of the Murder Conviction/Imprisonment and his fight to get released. Ward and Pazienza both had major movies made about them and their stories are not as compelling as that of Saad. I hate to say it but white boxers in the US have had advantages - they have a built in large fan base. There was no more exciting fighter than Saad between 76 - 80. Saad had enough heart for a brigade of marines and Saad was old school and remember reading even when on his honeymoon when he was on a Ship cruise Saad was running around the deck preparing for his next fight.
