Lemieux rocked again in the final minute of the 8th. This is embarrassing for him, and BJS was allowed to take a breather in the first 2 minutes of the round. If he had pressured who knows, but he has lost heart.

Saunders is landing the hard shotgun right jab at will, causing Lemieux's nose to further leak plasma and puff up as the cartilage is softened & separated. Saunders is occasionally sprinkling in a laser-guided left cross on the bridge of the nose, which is now visibly very badly bruised. Lemieux tries to jab every time he's a pace and a half away from Saunders, but Saunders invariably ducks it and pulls a slick lateral step and unerringly scores a counter or two as he goes by.
