"Attaboy rounds" - a common fallacy in scoring boxing matches RBR.

lmieux deserved an attaboy round for not pulling a rigandeaux!!!

 

If it's specified, not 100% genuine in the context of an internet forum then I don't see the problem. But yeah - vast improvements in performance =/= winning a round if you aren't actually doing better than your opponent.

 

Saunders taunted in round 12 didn't let go on purpose. Lemieux did let go landed shots to the body with nothing on them. Landing more pitty pit body shots than Saunders threw in the last round.
I know it wasnt a momentum changer. but imagine a scenario where a guy dominated a round completely. then imagine a round where that guy legit does nothing eats a couple pitty patty shots. and that's all that happens. should the guy guy that didn't let go still get the round because it didnt change the tide?

 

I don't mind giving 1 round to guys who tried their best but were nowhere near good enough. Its a pity round. A thanks for taking part round. That last round for me, David pushed the action, he tried his best, but it was too late in the game. If I looked at it more closely, and this was even going into the final round, that pity woulnd't be there.

 

my way of scoring is that if you can isolate that round and watch it on it's own who won the round. what happened in the last round shouldnt make a difference. Momentum rounds and Comparison rounds happen too often.

 

I dont agree with a pitty round if you can isolate a round and it has a clear loser it has a clear loser.

 

The problem here is that it's still just ones' own opinion.

I'm guessing you have been accused of some attaboy rounds yourself, IB, as all could be.

My problem with "attaboy" rounds is when they line up with obvious pre-fight fandom and predictions.

I'll just end it with this I didn't think Saunders won round 12. I think he had a victory lap because Lemieux was charging at him and desperate just like his corner said. Billy listened to his corner. round 10 was close but I bet on a rewatch it was a Billy Joe round too just lemieux landed a few punches but I think billy joes start was better, that was a comparison round (likely)
