I don't know Akavov, but perhaps he's a more difficult fighter than Lemieux.

To be fair Lemieux reminds me of a Middleweight version of Anthony Joshua.

BJS is reminiscent of a smaller Tyson Fury.

People forgetting that Saunders has looked more than vulnerable more than once before himself...

Second fight with his trainer, overseas fight... not outrageous to have picked Lemieux. I went back and forth on it myself, rode with Lemieux before the bell rang. Disappointed I didn't see it coming? Sure. But I'm not upset. It seemed a battle that no one should have been surprised by any outcome (Saunders by TKO or Lemieux by decision, slightly surprising).

perhaps fighters perform differently on different days, just like teams.

joshua isn't as accomplished as lemieux, nor is fury as saunders.

I think this was a clear Saunders call. Had Lemieux won here I would have been legitimately surprised. I will almost always pick for the robberies.... and even with the high chance of Saunders not getting a fair call, and perhaps a chance of him having a KD or two against him (in some scenario that Lem lands some monster punch) I still didnt give Lem a shot.

And the point here isnt saying Im some badass fight prediction professor, not at all. The Lem picks just baffled me a bit. Saunders was all wrong for Lemieux. All wrong. The only thing that made it remotely interesting was if Lem could possibly make it close enough that they would rob Saunders, or that Saunders would possibly show up in bad condition (possible) and underperforms once again and Lems best is better than Saunders worse. Both were long shots to the point of surprise, imo.

Absolutely. David Lemieux however did what he always does.

i was referring to saunders. saunders impressed me tonight. lemieux still beats most in the division. this was saunders stepping it up. proving he is a champ, not a paper titlist.

I really enjoyed watching Saunders fight tonight as well. Much more entertaining than the two other fights I've seen him in.

Now that he has proven to be above the Monroe's and the Lemieuxs, let's see how he fairs against the Jacobs, Canelo, and Triple Gs. He may very well be the real deal, but I'm not going to overrate him for doing what Alvine and Rubio have done before. Really just look at DL record to see his real level.

didn't see alcine-lemieux. lemieux absolutely dominated rubio before he gassed. nothing on saunders resume indicated he might be elite.

I would give Rubio more credit than that. I would say that the reason DL faded was because of Rubio's work. Rubio has been around a long time, he's a former champion and has fought much better opposition to Lemieux save GGG.

Alcine just flat out outboxed him. That was the first Lemieux fight I saw live on TV, I became his fan despite him losing. His look and style reminded me somewhat of a vintage fighter.
