To the topic at hand, when Pirog was active it was reasonable to say he wasn't just the best middlweight not including Golovkin, but would've beat him so was simply the best middleweight. And there wasn't anything else but a fading Martinez around. But now? Saunders has put a wrench in the middlweight picture, and there's evidently too many stylistically clashing strengths in potential matches amongst the top guys to say one guy's the best. I think Canelo beats Golovkin, but Jacobs might beat Canelo, Saunders might beat Jacobs, and Charlo might beat Jacobs. With the current division even if the winners of upcoming fights meet we might miss out on some matchups and not truly know who the best is.

I am certain he schools GGG at this point, GGG is a ancient POW these days, guy looks emaciated trying to make 160,

GGG is suffering because he loves the money too much, he needs to move up ASAP

If young Christopher can win WBSS, the rematch will be at an all time high in demand.
Hopefully that's enough to get the fight over the line, tonights Billy Joe is a tough nights work for anyone. Lemieux might be pretty basic but Saunders was fantastic.

I hope Saunders does get even better in his next fight too and Jr can win the WBSS.
Still fancy Jr to get the W, but it will be a hell of a fight. 2 fighters in their absolute prime.

You can't say that about BJS vs GGG or Canelo,, GGG is ancient and Canelo is looking like a midget bodybuilder, Canelo is most definitely not at his ideal weight fighting @ 160, he is better @ 154, too small.

Facts all GGG landed on Jacobs were jabs, he didn't land any heavy power punches, and when he grazed Jacobs he went down (although I am certain he pushed Jacobs down when he was off balance and the KD wasn't legit)

Saunders hits much harder than a GGG jab I am certain!!!!

Jacobs actually beat GGG IMO but that isn't the point, GGG is too slow to catch Jacobs and against Saunders he will be at a speed disadvantage.

Fair enough James. We'll see. I'm pretty sure this fight will happen. The way boxing has been recently, I see it happening next.

Saunders might handle Canelo but i'd favor Jacobs over either of them. not sure about Charlo. no one will be eager to sign-up to chase Saunders around the ring. maybe Golovkin will do it.

Saunders utterly skilled a C-level guy tonight. Jacobs is better than that. I think Saunders stands out more overall, but I agree that Danny's attributes can certainly test him H2H.

That said, Danny didn't have to do too much to get his shot at the top dog (he was just there and had a belt), so I have no problem with Billy getting straight in with Canelo or GGG if those two don't rematch immediately. Billy doesn't have to go through Jacobs to justify a shot at either of them.

It's tough to say to be totally honest.

When the olympians turned professional he was always considered the best prospect despite not medalling.

His career has been brought along expertly. He cleaned out domestically unifying the British, Commonwealth and European titles and he has now enjoyed two years fighting at a World class level.

Sylistically he's the worst match for Golovkin as well and of he isn't ready for the top now he never will be. This fight is his audition for facing Golovkin and whereas Canelo is a bit more flat footed Saunders can pull off this game plan. Canelo had to rely on keeping Golovkin honest with power shots which is why there were so many exchanges and usually those ended up favouring the stronger fighter in Golovkin. Saunders doesn't need to rely on that he has the style to pepper from range and he proved last night he can compete with the best out there.

I hope we see Golovkin vs Canelo in May and BJS vs Jacobs in the meantime with a huge summer showdown between the two winners.

Lemieux is a BAD fighter. He's BAD. Winning to him means nothing when we are talking about the highest level in boxing. Lemieux is so basic, makes so many mistakes and has so little undertanding about this sport that it's shameful to watch him fighting.

I dont think bjs is over jacob or canelo. No way. We will see in the next future, though, I hope.

I think fighters like Jacobs & Alvarez will give BJS a very close fight...
I rate Jacobs over Alvarez & GB will never let Alvarez fight Jacobs.
If BJS can keep this type of performance up & now he is with the Ingle Gym I can see no reason why he could not, then he can beat GGG. I am a GGG fan, but Alvarez made GGG look clumsy, BJS is by far a better boxer than Alvarez. The hardest fight for BJS will be Jacobs then Alvarez imo.

BJS is better than both Pirog and GGG from what we saw last night.

    The better question is

Is BJS a good matchup for Marvelous?

Not sure about H2H since I think he might struggle a bit with taller guys who can stand off, box and use their jab.

In terms of resume at middleweight, yeah, I'd say so. Lee, Lemiuex, Spike and CEJ serve as a better CV at the weight than most anyone else's work in the division.

Since I'm taking about into account, I'm voting yes.
