This is one big myth. It's hit and not get hit, but you still have to hit, and it takes greater skill to be able to hit more whilst not getting hit. Rigondeaux turned to pros for money otherwise he should've stayed amateur and earned a 3rd gold medal and the adoration of the Cuban population. As Rigo said himself, the respect of Cubans isn't worth the ice around my watch, but he's not willing to make himself more entertaining in any way (in fact, HE CAN'T. He tried but got knocked down and reverted back to his style). I don't mind watching Rigo. Rigo-Donaire was one of my favourite performances of recent times, but he is boring. If you lose against him, you'll get a loss on your resume and you'll look even look boring.
In your case, which is a rare one I must add, you do understand what you're watching but it's simply not your cup of tea. That's understood and respected. Different people have different tastes. However, I have to disagree with you claiming that my comment was one big myth. I can promise you that the majority of people that ridicule the defensive fighting style simply don't know nor understand what they're watching to truly judge. They have no clue what leg movement is all about, different angles, smart counters, feints...etc.
To Quote George Foreman. Boxing is like Jazz, the better it is the more people dislike it. Great fighters make fighting look easy, they take the tension and hurt from the sport. The idea behind a skilled boxer, is that if you try and fight him, you will be knocked out, hence why many of Rigo's oppenents either get knocked out, or they are tenantively beaten in 12 rounds. Check out the fighters that threw caution to the wind, they got broken faces. Rigo is as good as Floyd, the only reason I think Floyd is bit better, is simply that he can trade in the pocket, chest to chest. no space, and you still wont hit him. But rigos P4P power is sweeter, and his footwork is sweeter
The quitting joke is not only the most boring fighter ever in the ring - which should be official now! He also is very boring outside the ring, has no personality whatsoever and looks like a ugly miserable rat.
These old threads are great watching all these no nothings pretend they loved Rigo's style because it makes them feel they are more knowledgeable about the sport than is the case.
All throughout the lead up to the fight I kept on seeing the same idiots go on about “Rigo has the superior ring IQ, doe. Loma has da edge cause he bigger.” Lol! I just laughed reading that dumb **** and knew what was really going to happen. The fight was decided on smarts NOT size. Also Loma was faster in every aspect.
What's with this ring I.Q. narrative they are trying to main stream? Rigo: A guy who fights the same every time has this high ring i.Q. errrrr O.K.!
