Obviously he didnt completely quit but did he in some way mentally capitulate and become a "game loser" by refusing to put himself in a position to win, choosing to just plod his way to a decision loss against the cautious Lewis?
Did not have the speed and skills to trouble Lewis. Was too predictable with that left hook and he truly needed a lucky miracle punch.
Greatly disapppointed in Tua for that fight. Came in out of shape and mentally folded after the first round. Credit to Lewis as well for bossing him in that fight. A big stain on Tua who had a solid career.
As Jeff Lacy and David Lemieux found out it takes more than a big left hook to defeat a skilled mobile opponent. Joe Frazier was a exception but he had underrated boxing skills and was driven by pure hatred for Ali. Tua found Lewis physical advantages and style too much to handle.
Credit to Lewis in that fight. Tua had heart, but Lewis was bigger and was better skilled. Tua didn’t give up, and kept looking for the killer punch till the end. Lewis followed a game plan to stay outside perfectly. Lewis is a legend, and showed his class in this fight.
Tua's problems in the Lewis fight all dated back to the time following his win over Rahman. He was never the same after that, and he sat on his ranking, fighting subpar opposition and getting out of shape, while Lewis and Holyfield had their 1999 rivalry.

I agree. Tua was always going to have trouble with Lennox, as he always had difficulty going up against guys with solid jabs, and Lewis had an outstanding jab. But all the same, if Tua had taken the Rahman rematch or a fight against Grant, when he was sitting on his ranking, getting out of shape, and facing a few overmatched guys - he would have given himself a much better chance at landing something. But even at his best, it was a tall order for him. It takes more than a left hook and a haircut to beat Lennox Lewis.
He did quit. He stopped trying to win and take chances and instead chose to survive. Had he moved his hands even to the body to get inside he may have caught one coming in. Then that over rated chin would have been exposed. Lewis essentially toyed with him.
