Any version of Pacquiao from 2003-2009 is essentially the prime version. There are only a few minor differences. The young prime version of Pacquiao was arguably the best version. The version who threw a prime or near prime Barrera around the ring like a ragdoll. The same version a few months later fought a draw (won the fight, but judges error) against a peak Marquez. And then lost a close a decision to Erik Morales. The later prime version of Pacquiao carried less power, speed and workrate due to moving up in weight and being involved in multiple violent wars. But the right hand improved a little, his in and out rhythm became a little harder to time. That was the version that won a SD over a slightly over the hill 34 year old Marquez, made a shot DLH quit, almost killed Ricky Hatton and sent Cotto to the ICU. This was arguably the best version too. But Pacquiao never became a great technician anyways. He was still a hyper athletic fighter with a little more thoughtfulness to his style, but still mostly an athlete. By 2011 Pacquiao was no longer the best athlete in boxing. Which meants his prime was over. He was always a hyper athlete and when that went he had to abandon that ultra reckless take no prisoners style that made him who he was.

Any of those two versions were prime.

 

Pacquiao never lost a decision to Marquez. And he had only been KO'ed after he was softened up from previous wars. He was outboxed by Morales, but then again is that really such a crime?

 

Let's not forget that Marquez wasn't Marquez... Roidquez KO'd Pacquiao.

Been a Pac fan all my life, but I'd not bet against a monstrous counter-puncher like Bud in this fight. Bud cracks harder than Marquez, and has better defence.
