His lack of discipline fails him. I would say the dude is the perfect gate keeper - if you beat him you are legit.

I'd say B level. He's beaten some lower B level guys.

I was among the first to diss Broner and expected him to lose to Maidana back in the day. Didn't even think it was a very risky pick in Kirk's league, while a lot were still on Broner's nuts.
Yes he's the most manufactured "4 weight champ" in boxing history, and yes, he should have at least 2 more losses on his resume, but he's not a C level fighter.
A solid B level for me, that at times drops down to B- or C+ due to lack of dedication. And sometimes up to B+ due to his grit.
No where near the A or even A+ fighter he once was touted to be of course.

He's a product of the era in which flashy prospects their O gets protected by promoters and judges alike. Clear losses were scored as wins and afterwards treated as such by the fans and even most of the press. Vacant belts were up for grabs for the big names against often very low level opponents. Weight cheating encouraged by prior day weigh-ins and then still fights going ahead after the "a-side" didn't make weight. Sometimes after already moving the weightlimit prior to the fight.
Acting like a baboon outside of the ring being celebrated by certain fans and hated by others, so it actually caused people to tune in wanting to see the fighter lose or the others celebrating asocial behavior...

All this caused the Broner phenomenon.
A pretty talented simpleton with some grit, that became a "star" while he shouldn't have been, and then had the act kept up after multiple exposures until it no longer stuck and then kept it up again.

Gatti would of starched Paulie and Broner. Plus people loved Gatti. Broner gets on people's nerves. No hall for Broner.

It's worth noting that Broner hadn't really found his stylistic strong suit yet when he fought Ponce. He was still trying to operate as a kind of athletic mover/counterpuncher, and it wasn't working very well. He was generally much more effective when he discovered his strength and started walking guys down (although even that had its ceiling, especially when he moved up and took on welters who could match his physicality).

I'm not a fan of Gatti and personally don't think he should be in the
HOF but I can rationalize why he made it. Broner has absolutely no
chance. He's not as trash as some people claim he is but he's had
a pedestrian career and he's probably already on the other side of
his prime. It's all downhill from here.

    4 Division Champ
Stole Magic Man belt and side slot

Managed to see the final bell while Maidana was pumping his guts so he has GRIT.

    Elite guy? Nahhhh
    C level? Nah
Solid B- at best and still has potential if he can can line his life up IMO

I think he's a B level fighter maybe better if he hadn't gone to 147 which was his undoing IMO. Entertaining but irritating loved the Maidana fight.
