How would you rate his chin? He was stopped in 1 round against a nobody in Derek Edwards, and dropped in the 1st round by DeGale, who isn't known as a puncher.
He's more than redeemed himself since that loss.. My guess would be that he's one of those guys who doesn't have anywhere near an iron chin but has good recuperative ability in addition to his toughness and ring IQ. Kind of like Calzaghe although less durable.
8 After Edwards I had my doubts but since then he's had little trouble in the chin department and he's gone on to be a solid fighter.
Jack is one of those guys who might be susceptible to getting caught early but who becomes much harder to drop/stop once he gets into any sort of groove. Edwards and DeGale aren't exactly feather-fisted, either.
In 2010 he just beaten highly touted Carl Daniels, Derek Edwards was 25-0-0 undefeated top Super Middleweight, 7 years later he is a "nobody"
Sounds about right to me, Jacks chin isn't good by any means. Jack would be a much better fighter if he could take a punch better its one of his weaknesses, I definitely expect Stevenson to eat him for breaky.
I think he has a very good defense which makes up for his lack of chin. When its on point its hard to crack, Stevenson should have the sharpness to break through his guard though and his power can easily concuss him.
I've seen so many threads about how Khans chin wil be stronger because.. a good punch with your head in the wrong position can happen. it's when you are knocked out a few times your chin is weak. Jack lunged into a punchers punch.
The loss against Edwards was a perfectly timed right counter over the jab and Edwards does have a nice right hand even though his KO% isn't the highest. He hurt Korobov with it too in his fight prior to facing Jack. Granted Korobov waded in recklessly trying to end it early after hurting him, but it was a well-timed heavy shot. Not sure how Korobov managed to remain vertical after eating it, luckily for him he has a good chin. Right hand at the 4:20 mark but it's worth watching the whole of round 1. I think he has a decent/quite good chin. But unfortunately in a division were the top boys are Kovalev, Beterbiev, Gvozdyk, Bivol, Stevenson - he'd need to have a solid chin, his chin will let him down against the best. 175 is a far stronger division than 168.
