3 You haven't understood what I was saying at all. As far as I know, the vast majority of fighters are managed by themselves or their trainer (although, a lot of guys have signed to MTK now). AJ Boxing is not really known as a fighters management company. What other fighters do they manage? It's known as AJ's own commercial company. That's why I questioned why Buatsi and Okolie would sign with them - since AJ has little/no reputation as a boxing manager, what was his company offering that the more established managers weren't? I'm aware that Matchroom is a promotional company, I'm aware of the Sky deal. I've never said that AJ will leave Matchroom, if you had read the recent "If AJ leaves Matchroom" thread you would know that. I was making a subtle point, which you clearly missed. I think it's interesting that Eddie name dropped him in the tweet. It comes across a little bit sycophantic, as if Eddie wants Joshua to believe he sees him as his other half/business partner. There may be nothing in it, but it's also possible that there's a little bit of insecurity on Eddie's part because he doesn't know for certain what AJ is thinking. Until the new contract is signed, there is doubt, however small. In future, please read more carefully before calling people 'crazy'.
I do not understand that aswell.Wouldnt it be easier for Okolie and Buatsi to just straight sign with Matchroom.Wouldnt that mean both of them are paying Matchroom and AJ Bxing both for their services. It would be better for them if Matchroom just take a cut from their purses. But Joshua it looks he is trying to emulate Mayweather Promotions or Golden Boy when it first started out.
Selby and Degale have never been ticket sellers in their entire careers BT / Frank are looking at viewing figures as there main interests and the reported nos for the Frampton and Degale cards are massive
Hang on. So with Warren ticket sales don't matter its all about viewing figures. With Hearn, ticket sales do matter and viewing figures don't. Stop moving the goalposts.
Yeah, that's why so many fighters manage themselves ie. just straight sign with matchroom. A separate manager is another person you have to pay. Managers have to convince fighters that they know how to get them more money than they could get by themselves. MTK seem to be doing this well, everyone's rushing to join them on 'advisory' deals. Sometimes it's just a case of negotiating aggressively with the promoter and making sure the fighter doesn't get screwed. Take Frampton for example, there's rumours that he felt Cyclone were screwing him financially. Now he's left and joined Frank Warren, but he's also paying MTK to make sure it doesn't happen again. Don't know why Okolie and Buatsi are with AJ but he must have convinced them it's in their best interests. It looks odd to me given that Josh is still fighting and is himself with matchroom. Can't imagine that Eddie feels totally comfortable about it.
Mate, I couldn’t give a monkeys about Hearns tickets sales. I was just pointing out that not for the first time, Hearn is going to be humiliated by his own words. The other day he was trying to pan Frank about ticket sales when he’s about to deliver a flop at the 02 himself and he has done so already there in the recent past. The thing is, eddie knows it’s going to flop but he is in such a mess with his shows he’s got no choice but to run with it. Matchroom fan boys need to face the reality that unless Hearn takes drastic action hes in big trouble in 2018.
He’s in big trouble by selling a card with less appeal to more people! Figure that one out. Frank has just had two world title fights and two European title fights as well as the country’s hottest prospect and couldn’t sell out the copperbox. Eddie will sell more tickets than the copperbox holds for a load of prospects and you deem it a failure. Figure that one out.
The two fighters you mentioned signed with AJ when they turned pro. I suppose they were thinking AJ has his own staff who create commercial revenue and manage fighters profiles well. I gave also noticed their the two Olympians who are always on AJ undercards and I would imagine that was another selling point.
As it stands I'm really not sure this does more than six thousand to be honest. How much do NextGEN shows normally do? Because this is basically one of those shows but slightly bigger
With respect, you are talking utter nonsense. In Eddies own words the other day he said Okolie - Chamberlain is a York Hall fight..the last time he did one of these cards at 02 it was a flop with about 3k through the door but u think this is going to do better? Why because he’s got Carson jones on the undercard..ffs mate. Hearn is in a mess you must see that..this Feb card was supposed to be a PPV with Wilder V Whyte KT help set up an AJ fight..well that worked didn’t it! What going on about Buglioni - Johnson which was supposed to be cheif support..another mess. As for AJ - hearn is really in the tight Spot here..AJ has him bent over a barrel and ready to be rogered If Eddie wants to keep hold of him. Thing is, matchroom boxing is done with out him so Eddie will have to take one for the team if he wants to stay afloat.
