Do you guys remember that Darnell used to post on here? Pretty regularly, too. I think of all the known (then) active pro boxers to post on ESB, he was probably the most prolific along with British soccer crossover (and longtime contender in the UK national title mix) Curtis Woodhouse.

Part II of that question: do you remember the actually somewhat lengthy feud between Ding and I on here? We started out as friends actually, then beefed initially over me criticizing him for something or another, leading him to essentially call me a keyboard warrior and I got in a fucking snit over it and demanded that he spar with me, and we ended up stalemated at me being like "COME TO BOSTON SO I CAN SCHOOL YOU ON VIDEO FROM SOMEBODY'S PHONE AND EMBARRASS YOU FOR ALL OF ESB AND THE WORLD TO SEE!" and he was like "Eh, don't really feel like doing that but you come down to Florida (or wherever he was encamped, know it was south of the Mason-Dixon anyway, like 90% sure on the Florida part), come to my gym and I'll gladly flatten you inside a round. Always got time for my fans. :D" and so on back and forth until we eventually both got over it and went back to being civil/friendly.

At the time I weighed like 157lbs soaking wet, Napoleonic little tightly-wound ****ing maniac that I was. :sisi1

I think we ultimately left things at "yeah but seriously though should you ever wind up in my city or I yours, let's do a friendly light spar", but that was like a decade ago. Not sure he even spends time anywhere near boxing gyms these days. His career fizzled a couple of years back and I've never heard of him transitioning into coaching or anything. :roto2nuse:

Twas indeed Ramírez, who flopped down like a fish on the poopdeck when Zhang gave him an upward slap on the gunt. "Legit" kayo, albeit over an obese Ramírez with probably zero training camp.

Sad..... Ramirez must to have really hit rock bottom to let himself get in that kind of shape.. Zhang doesn't really look any better, but obviously trains some. Doesn't convince me one bit as to his legitimacy.

I thought it was Maradona in there for a second.

    Sad for Ramirez.

No. It's "legit" only in the sense that Zhang attacked him and Ramírez either couldn't or didn't want to continue (so basically the same ambiguity level as Tyson vs. Seldon, where not a prearranged and choreographed fix per se, but debatable as to whether a "KO" or a cowardly "find a soft spot on the canvas" quit job)

Ramírez must have BADLY needed the money. He's fat as ****.

    So sad to see.

Yeah. I meant his legitimacy as top 50-75(as his resume would suggest) fighter as a quick glance as at his resume would suggest. Can think of quite a few unheralded guys who expose this fraud(a day I very much look forward to) a lot of "questionable" prospects coming out of China these days.

I think, in all seriousness, freaking Kyotaro Fujimoto could swim across the sea of Japan, climb ashore, run 150km to Beijing without rest, kick down the door of the venue, leap into the ring and proceed to demolish Zhang in under a minute.

Somebody needs to ask George Arias if Zhang is legit. Pulev, Takam, H Fury all went the distance directly before Zhang clobbered Arias tko2. The fact Arias hasn't fought since is either Zhang is legit or his retirement fund was seriously topped up by Zhang's promoter. Which is it?

Just made my girlfriend watch Wilson vs Rodrigiez after explaining the epicness of this post, and how we did indeed have the great Ding a Ling man as one of our own at one time.

I was thinking along these lines... Moreover, there's almost no footage of Zhang apart from what we saw tonight - Which got me thinking... Zhang's handlers probably wanted to quell some of the doubt WBA and others had regarding the legitimacy of his fights - so they took a calculated risk with Ramirez - knowing full well that he had let himself completely go after the Lebedev fight and would pose next to no threat against their guy.

At least with his mini-me Ali Raymi we had a wealth of footage of his high school gymnasium extravaganzas. Startling how similar they are, in terms of being fed "combatants" with a mysterious shared Achilleus'-heel vulnerability to slappy underhanded body flurries...

So is this the peak of boxing oddity and corruption? Those two usually go hand in hand. There was a lot of fight fixing in the 90's/80's and boy, things get weird.

Anyone remember Tim "Doc" Anderson against NFL hype job turned boxing Mark Gastineau? More than one fight has gone on the record saying they threw fights against Gastineau.
