    A hypothetical match up of the Irish Gerry Cooney vs the Italian marciano, I think the Cooney that beat norton would be able to stop the marciano that beat louis, mostly cause of his size and power advantage but also I think he had a tremendous left hook and did well against pressure fighters, wouldn' be surrised if rocky dropped him with a overhand though, rocky was more of a two fisted fighter and had has better Bob and weave than he was ever credited for

    Thus, it begins again. Everyone knows that the Snarling, animallike ultaaggressive Cooney of the 2nd minute of the 4th round of the Holmes fight defeats and utterly pulverizes any Heavyweight Champion who ever lived. Including Holmes of the Holmes fight. Really, why are there not more Cooney posts? What with him being so unbeatable.

    Marciano would broke the ribs of cooney like chips , you need a tougher guy than cooney to beat marciano

    Cooney looked devastating against a aging Norton , Lyle , Young.
    However he was mentally fragile and Rock will break his will.
    Rock will stop Cooney in 5.

    Rock by mid rnds KO .in close standing on jerrys feet smashing hooks and right hands into conney .Not pretty would look a little like Dempsey _ Willard .

    Love it! BUT, it is the ultimate insult to the great fighting heart and ability to withstand punishment and keep trying to compare Willard the braveheart who fought anyone to gutless chinless cherrypicking coward Gerry Cooney. And Cooney is knocked cold by Dempsey's first left . Hook. Willard. Agaainst 2 bookends and greats, Johnson & DEMPSEY, he earned the title Heavyweight Champion! :)

    Hard to see marciano having more trouble than spinks, who was about the same natural weight.

    On paper, Cooney has the height ,reach and power to knock out any shorter man who comes to him, Marciano, Tyson ,Frazier. In the ring he gets KTFO by all.

    It is quite simple really.

    Based on what Cooney showed us during his career, which left so many unanswered questions, we really have to favor Marciano here.

    Could Cooney have been better than the available evidence suggests?

    Certainly.

    Is it possible to imagine a scenario where he could have beaten Marciano?

    Of course.

    At the end of the day however, we are picking the most probable scenario, and that is the highly proven Marciano, prevailing against the very unproven Cooney.

    If Rocky can deal with the first few shots Gerry throws, he gets on the inside and just eats him up. I mean, you never know, But Rocky's viscious, He would be in his chest, knowing how hard Gerry hits,I think he would just uload everything right there in round one. I do think he would be a gentleman and visit /Gerry in the hospital

    Rocky looked devastating and mentally strong against aged Walcott, Charles, Louis and Moore.

    How would he do against a real heavyweight who wasn't close to getting his AARP card?
