Ive read about how him jeffries would run 20 miles then skip rope for 2 hours straight which id find hard to believe anyone could do that regularly and still be healthy, but out of all boxers in boxing history, who had the most extreme workout.

Vassiliy Jirov was put through some real sadistic training exercises. From what I recall (I think someone here posted this) he was raised by an olympic coach who toughened him up with stuff like dropping him off in the middle of a freezing lake and having him chased by ravenous attack dogs. A bit extreme but you can't argue with the results.

There was a grizzly old pug who used to post here. He once described one of his own legendary workouts and it makes Jeffries workout above sound like a day at the spa getting pedicures in comparison. Get back to me when Jeffries is breaking down machines with his intensity and has inspired a crowd of supporters a la Forrest Gump when he goes running across america.

I believe the HBO team themselves told us all of that information and that it was indeed true. Sounds like some kind of Soviet Gulag nightmare system.

Look at how he fought like a man possessed, in, well, all of his fights. He must of come close to setting punch stat records against Toney. He got hit a lot for a fighter who was dominating a weight division for an extended period of time. An iron man for sure, with a debilitating/paralyzing body attack.

In my none too educated opinion, there are quite a few similarities between Jirov and Golovkin... Triple G is simply more refined and skilled at what he does.

I guess some of the real old time guys were legitimate psychopaths when it came to over preparing with their training. I think one of them, who was also something of a legendary puncher, was I believe called Peter Maher. I can't be bothered to google/boxrec verify anything though.

Marciano as already noted is a known work horse. Jim Jeffries was supposedly just as extreme.

Carlos Monzon cut down to 10 cigarettes a day during training camp.

And he'd steal Marciano's woman and beat him in a street fight.

Marciano would train up to 8 months for a fight and lived like a monk.
