Pacquiao was a very mentally vicious fighter during his prime. When he had you hurt he pretty much went to inflict maximum pain on you. It's a tough thing to do for a fighter to try and essentially permanently damage and destroy the opponent when he's stunned, hurt, tired, worn down, etc. But Pacquiao did it. I'll never forget his onslaught on Marco Antonio Barrera and Miguel Cotto. Because they just never ended. Pacquiao was so incredibly spirited with his viciousness back in those days. He really wanted to separate the man's soul from his body.

It's a different approach than a psychopath or sociopath. Those guys will never fight or do anything with the same passion and conviction. You look at a genuine sociopath like Carlos Monzon. They don't have to worry about the opponents well being because they are incapable of doing that. Monzon was just cold and brutally precise and calculating with his approach. But since he lacked any type of emotion or sensitivity he cannot fight with the same indefatigable spirit that we saw with a guy like a Pacquiao.

You bring up a good point about Holyfield and his indefatigable spirt. A passionate person bordering on radical fights with the most spirit.

You also have to consider the weight classes he fought in back then. 112 at that time was very strong with Sasakul and Arbachakov. 122 not that bad. 126 was the strongest division of the entire era. Marquez, Morales, Barrera, Pacquiao, Hamed all in the same division. Straight up ridiculous. 130 saw the ridiculous 126 pound talent move up to 130 and Pac had to beat Marquez for the title. 135 I'll admit was weak. 140 wasn't that bad, Hatton is a solid champ. 147 had Cotto reigning on top, not a bad champ. 154 had the ginormous and tireless Margarito.

Pacquiao didn't just move up and win titles. These titles were against ATG and HOF'ers.

Manny Pacquiao is undeniably and without question the greatest p4p fighter since Ray Leonard and maybe since Roberto Duran.

The man started at 106 pounds and won a Flyweight title. And then beat the hell out of Miguel Cotto. I don't mean that he moved up and danced around a little and won a boring decision. He sent Miguel Cotto to the hospital. Cotto was utterly destroyed, Miguel's own dad got into the bed with him because it hurt that bad.

Can you imagine Nonito Donaire doing that to Cotto? No you can't, but that's almost an exact comparison. Pacquiao gentleman, is the former Lineal Flyweight Champion of the World.

No he is not. Floyd is and was p4p number 1 for more years than Pacquaio ever was. When Floyd was an active fighter after 08 he reclaimed back the throne from Pacquaio and never lost it until he retired. Pac was always number 2 behind Floyd until he started losing back in 2012.

There's twenty or thirty guys with better resumes(Armstrong, Greb, and Robinson's are just sick), but he's definitely up there, and he deserves recognition as the best fighter p4p in his own era.

He's not even the greatest with that last name. Bobby Pacquiao is greater than him

I don't know enough about the guys from 30's, 40's, 50's to dispute that. I do know that nobody will ever win lineal titles at Flyweight and Welterweight again. That's like a fighter winning the Featherweight title and then later winning the Lightheavyweight title. It's not going to happen.
