I know there’s a post on general about this but threads on there inevitably get hijacked by people obsessed with GGG or hating on Wilder. I’d really like to see this fight, could be a banger. I’d be surprised if Eddie lets Whyte have a go with Browne (unless he’s only had a 2 week training camp). I really believe Browne beats him, and that would ruin a big pay day for AJ and Eddie Hearn. What are other’s thoughts?
I do agree that imo browne beats whyte. And without hearn cooking up some ploy to tip the scales in whytes favour, i just dont see eddie taking a risk here, not when hes trying to line whyte up for another aj fight. Ive been next to both whyte and browne in person and let me tell you, browne is one humongous scary dude. His forearms are bigger than my legs. Hes very impressionable with his size but also very friendly. Whyte on the other hand was underwhelming in stature when i met him but tbf he was also a nice chap to speak to. I dont really rate whyte, hes stiffed legged and if he ever wins a world title, then it dosnt say much for boxing imo.
Browne is very overrated, I know Whyte is no great boxer but Browne lost to Rudenko and got a gift and went life and death with a shot Chagaev. I expect Whyte to beat Browne.
True, but are either of those two any better than a shot Chisora? Whyte's whole thing was that he was tough, but he was rocked against Del and against Helenius as well; I wonder if AJ has cracked that chin. For all of Browne's faults, his power certainly seems legit. I think he'd stop Whyte personally but it has the makings for a fun fight.
Decent fight and this is there level imo. I want Browne to win purley because i couldn't cope with the farce of a build up for AJ Whyte 2
It's a good fight on paper, I see Whyte being able to handle Browne over the distance. Brown has been inactive for a while and as others has said struggled when stepped up. Nothing more than a mauler really could even see him taking some serious accumulative damage. I don't see where Whyte fits into AJ's schedule now with mandatory defences and unifications on the horizon. The only use I can see for Whyte is to hype the Wilder fight as he is mandatory with the WBC. His only other route to an AJ rematch (let's face it AJ battered him first time round) is to beat Pulev and go the mandatory IBF route. Otherwise if he beats Browne he is just the standby guy. All Whyte can do now is keep winning and hope his payday will come.
AJ Whyte 2 will happen. Sky and Hearn have been putting in the work over the last 12 months to sell Whyte as this avoided fighter. Plus that 1 punch he landed that has been sold so much people think it was a close fight!
As I said in the main forum. Browne stops Whyte mid to late rounds. Is everyone here forgetting how open and easy to hit Whyte is? Whyte really isnt very good, and one shot landed on AJs chin doesnt change that fact. He lost to a shot Chisora narrowly. He couldnt stop a glass jawed Swedish joke who is completely shot & was given limited notice. Even the french pastry chef who lost to Wilder was able to take care of that business (Helenius), and take care of it on a fresher version. At least when Browne faces a similar level of competition he gets the job done. And by that I mean Knock them out. Whyte's power has not carried past British/Southern Area level
Well said, I wanted Whyte to face Duhaupas but this is a good test for him as well. Whyte doesn't deserve the AJ rematch yet.
Yeah I get what you are saying but where does he fit in to the Matchroom timeline? Parker next then Mandatory\Wilder or vice versa. He is looking at Q1 2019.
Interesting fight. I see it as a 50/50. If it goes beyond 6 I would fancy Whyte as I think Browne will gas but it's a big if if it does as Browne hits hard alot harder than Whyte.
I think Browne has a decent chance at beating Whyte. People still have this idea that Browne is the crude come forward slugger who just plods along. But if you watch the Chagaev fight and his last fight it's clear his time with the Fury's has drastically changed his style. He's pretty light on his feet now and prefers to box and move, he is far more agile than Whyte. Browne's defence in general is far better than Whyte's he actually moves his head and upper body unlike Whyte. Browne also has genuine power, far more than Chisora and with Whyte's poor defence, he's going to get hit. Whyte better pray Browne shows up out of shape or is past his best because I don't like his chances at the moment.
Was a big fan of whyte but signing with hearn his become like alot of hearn fighters abit like Paul Smith where they seem to think they can just walk into big fight with out doing a thing to Earn it but I don't see him winning anyway his easy to hit and has been hurt off slow and fighters that can't punch and brown has real knockout power
