The "Vitali only had 2 weeks notice" thing works both ways. Lewis wasn't very prepared for Vitali, who is a VERY different type of fighter than Kirk Johnson.
This is true. I highly doubt Lewis is as lax about training if he knew he'd be fighting Klitschko instead of Johnson.
Lewis is lying when he says he had no idea who Vitali was or who the Klitishko brothers were. He had seen their fights on video before for the last year to 2 years. Lewis was preparing for a fight for much longer than 2 weeks because he knew he had a fight coming up.
It's funny because Lewis was contracted to HBO for another 2-3 fights and at the time he insisted on seeing out the contract/deal and then reassessing his future, the Vitali fights was just one of them, its funny how he decided to go back on his HBO deal and retire rather than go for the justified rematch where the money was good as well under the pretext of "Wife/Mommy wants me to retire". His post fight attitude was just so unwarrior like "He was my mandatory, i gave him a chance to fight, i am not fighting him again". Would you ever see someone like Ali behave like that?

I think he would have been. He arrogantly said he could have 1 Klitschko for lunch and the other for dinner or words to that effect. Truth is Lewis hadn't fought a true top tier opponent since Holyfield who could actually pose him problems and Johnson was a gimme and Vitali was his best opponent in 4 years. Remember prior to the Vitali fight he was like a fine wine.....reality hit home that night. Great fight.
