Funny because the people who pick holmes only say " holmes by close decision etc" but they don't mention how holmes would win it..
I could see Holmes basing his game around the jab and trying to out-technical Lewis. I guess it's possible, and I'm by no means writing Holmes off. I just feel that Lewis has more strings to his bow and is the larger and more concussive fighter into the bargain.
I pick Holmes by a hair, though I like Lewis better. I tell you this though, I pick either of them over Ali.
If Lewis turns it into a slugfest, he will either risk being chinned or he will gas himself out after which Larry Holmes will take him to school even further. To those saying Holmes didn't pop a crack in his hands have no idea what they are talking about, Holmes has much more hand speed than Lewis and when he lands 3-4 quick punches to Lewis's face when Lewis tries to land 1, it will make a difference. A past prime Holmes schooled Ray Mercer wheras Lenni went to life and death with and even lost the bout against a faded Ray Mercer.
You've got the biggest anti Lewis agenda this forum has ever seen, and there's been some rippers. It's perfectly fine to pick either.
Who did Larry ever chin? Lewis is concerned enough to be motivated and on his game and he won't fall to Holmes' average punches, I personally think Holmes has the legs and hand speed with his jab to beat Lewis but its a points fight and a quite boring one between two of the division's least charismatic major figures.
Marvis Frazier and quit with the BS about Lewis being motivated and not being motivated, he turned up in shape for his losses and got chinned in encounters he didn't take punishment in. Larry will ask Lenni questions he has never been asked before.
Not just outjobbed but outsmarted, counter punched, made him gas out and then took charge in the later half of the fight. Holmes was the better boxer than Lewis. If Lewis thinks he will get away with it by turning it into a slugfest then he is going to have another thing coming, it will just be like Anthony Joshua shooting his load after throwing 10-15 punch combinations in the round.
Holmes by decisive decision. Whenever Lewis faced a threat he boxed very cautiously (Tua, Tyson, Holyfield). It also would mean 15 rounds.............and moving 245 pounds for 15 against a mobile Holmes is a no no. Lewis was great in imposing his will, aka dictate the pace and fight on his terms, but besides his two one shot losses he looked uncomfortable when he was pushed out of his comfort zone (Mercer, Holyfield, maybe even the Yugo guy). Holmes has shown when getting cracked hard that he can get up and win.....once Lemmie is down , he stays down, fact. Some of the shots Holmes went down on would have put Lewis in for the 20 count. The jab combined with Holmes advantage in speed plus his suoperior conditioning will be the deciding factor.
Holmes would also talk to his opponents when fighting just like Ali, insulting and demoralizing them, if Lewis is struggling, Holmes is going to rub it in and that might play a factor too.
