If i read correctly the question is H2H P4P.

You can reasonably argue either. SRL is more proven resume wise, he fought and beat numerous P4P ATG's. Jones has that immense talent and so much dominance - he was levels above so many challengers. Only Toney on Jones resume would approach the big 4 tho.

I'll say SRL with his stronger resume at the top end. He's completely proven. I don't doubt that Jones would have done the same given the opportunity.

That's it. The perfect answer to what was actually quite a tricky question.

Prime Jones beats prime SRL in a P4P matchup. His mastery of distance, freakish hand/foot speed, and punching power with either hand make him a handful for just about any fighter who ever lived.

Based on his decline since 2004, fans tend to overlook just how dominant he was at his peak. I also think the writers who have a vote on ATG P4P lists tend to vote him down a few notches as payback for his cocky and diva like behavior when he was on top of the sport.

Make no mistake about it, prime Roy is an ATG.

    It would have been arguable.

I could never have ranked him over Greb, Langford, Robinson or Fitzsimmons.

I disagree .. As I think there are more boxers throughout history who have a better chance at beating RJJ at 168, then SRL at 147 ..If that is what you mean by it..

Prime Roy arguably never lost a round

But Ray fought the best in Hagler, Duran, Hearns, Benitez

I'll give it to Roy because of his total and complete domination during his best years ... He was unreal

that Hagler was inactive and unmotivated compared to the Marvin who fought Hearns. But Ray knew when to fight him, but still Ray beat all time greats. He will always be a greater fighter.

I agree. The names he beat Benitez,Duran and Hearns in a two year span overtakes anything Jones did. And he gutted the wins out..

yeah he did. He did not want to be pushed in fights. I think he wanted to win but he didn't want the grueling fights Ray was able to pull off.
