According to the news of the boxing world, Shiming has lost sight of his eye after a flight. It's suspected it's a detached retina, and the pressure of the flight may have caused even more damage to his already damaged eye. It's unknown if they will be able to restore his sight, if not, it would obviously end his career.

hope they can restore his sight that's the important thing.
there's zero reason to try and salvage his career anyway, so they shouldn't even try.

Terrible news, first Erik Skoglund and now this. Not good at all.

This is what I'm afraid is going to happen to Kell Brook.

    That's terrible.

He needs to suck it up though and get back into the ring. Sugar Ray Seales was almost totally blind in both eyes when he went 12 with James Shuler in 1982. He had to keep a hand on his trainer's shoulder to get from his dressing room into the ring. And Shuler was no joke, he was an undfeated guy who made the US Olympic team.

    Fighers are so soft nowadays.

Is this confirmed? I saw he was getting an operation for possible detached retina a day go. Wasn't he warned not to fight sometime back related to his retina?

Yeah Seals was a terrible story in boxing. Olympic Gold, never made money. I can't imagine fighting somebody I can't see throw punches, and the Shuler fight was a real donnybrook. Boxers are a rare breed.

I feel sorry for Shimming, but it might have actually worked out for him in the long run. He's 36 in a tough weight class with no power. He was ripe to really get beaten up.
