I was talking about prime versions of them fighting each other now, as if my magic we could make that happen, which I'm pretty certain is beyond the realms of possibility with current technology.

there's nothing wrong with using high profile athletes to inspire you, but when you put them on a pedestal to the extent that you do with pacman and bailey does with Calzaghe, then it's a sure-fire sign that you're living through your heroes rather than improving your own lot in life.
it can only make the world you live in smaller.

Morales and Marques are both all time great fighters that Pac moved up the weights to face. Prime Pac 2-0-1 against Marquez and 2-1 against Morales.

I'm deeply disappointed to discover that this thread TKO6'ed the TKO6 thread for length by quite a bit :( However, the fight is not over yet!

Mayweather was clearly a talented fighter but one could ask why he never dared to be great.

Mayweather has never took a fight where it was seen as dangerous or a real challenge.

I often ask myself why Maweather tried to take a fight at 160 sure its not his weight class but is 147 Pacs weight class? or was 160 durans weight class?

The reality is smaller fighters have went up to 160

Mayweather could of took fights with Hopkins/Martinez at 160 but never even thought about it which shows you his mind.

I think there's a lot of truth to this. Only an idiot would say Floyd wasn't a great, a nailed-on HOFer, an easy pick for top-50 all-time P4P, an incredible technician, but any idea of his greatness is always tainted by this pervasive sense that he only fought on his terms. You would never bet against Floyd in any fight, even now, but that's partly because we have learned that he only fights when he is confident of winning, something he is an infallible judge of. He would never do a Brook - Golovkin or even a Khan - Alvarez. He fought some great fighters, but only because he knew he was greater. I don't think you necessarily have to take risks to be "great". But to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the titans, it's not enough to play it safe simply because you can make it look easy.
