Davis is protected, so that's not happening. And, in all fairness, he isn't ready for the fight. He may have been a titlist already, but his talent is not that precocious. Linares is a myth, albeit a persistent one. I'd like to see Berchelt and Garcia in 2018, ideally speaking. But if only one could happen, then Garcia has most value.
As the 130 lb IBF champion, Gervonta needs to be ready for all challengers. To think otherwise is why boxing is not a mainstream sport. If Gervonta and/or his team don’t think he’s ready for EVERYONE in his weight class, they should delay fighting for a title. I understand having a belt helps with negotiations, but I don’t agree with this practice.
Davis is pointless. All that does is wreck the kid, and everyone knows it. Only those who want to see Tank (or by proxy, Floyd) humiliated really want it. He should gun hard for the other 3 next year. If only two, make sure Mikey is one of them.
He doesn't have a belt. Pointless fight. Loma vs Garcia should be the fight everyone wants to see. If Loma wins, he'll already be an ATG, no denying it.
I’d like to see Loma vs Garcia. I’d also like to see Gervonta challenge himself. I don’t expect him or Floyd to want smoke with Loma. That’s okay, because I’d really like to see Gervonta lock horns with Gary Russell Jr. That fight should be a natural. They both “fight” about once a year for Master Al and they’re both from the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia). You’d think the winner of such a fight would be able to make Master Al’s PBC better money.
