I remember that he was matched like Wilder, knocking out low ranking and mid tier guys. Some people rated him as the second coming of Mike Tyson. He took that loss from leapai and then that's all she wrote. Seems he quit or something. Was he just exposed by leapai or did he have more to offer?
"...On 3 May 2015 Boytsov was found unconscious in a Berlin subway tunnel. Due to a severe head injury he was placed in a medically induced coma for seven weeks, and will unlikely return to professional boxing."
Ah ****. I forgot about that. I didn't know the details but I remember it sounded bad. My apologies, and I hope he is ok.
Some dude beat him on the head with a lead pipe and gave him brain damage. Never did hear if he came out of the coma.
He is out of coma since june 2015 he was in coma for 7 weeks , Still he is in bad shape. His wife was interviewed by a russianm newspaper in febuary 2017 where she said that there are positive changes. https://translate.google.de/translate?hl=de&sl=ru&tl=en&u=https://www.championat.com/boxing/news-2717320-v-sostojanii-zdorovja-denisa-bojcova-est-polozhitelnye-izmenenija.html&sandbox=1 Still very sad story I watched his fight with vs Darnell Wilson live in the arena in Hamburg in 2012
Boystov had talent.. There's no doubt about it. But he definitely succumbed to drinking/drugs and that kind of lifestyle in general. The guy who fought Leapai wasn't the same prospect everyone was raving about, go watch earlier clips and you'll see.. The speed, power and combination punching are all gone. Shame he never fully realized his potential.
He had problems with his heart and hands. He started off hot, but became a boxer type before he was injured outside of the ring. He was not going anywhere.
One of the all time best junior fighters. He ran the tables at the under 19 world champs or whatever it was called??? The guy knocked everybody he faced out if i recall.
