Holyfield had superior hand speed and footwork and boxing skills.
However Holyfield could be vulnerable because of his love of
slugging it out. Holyfield like the Bert Cooper and Foreman fight
showed he could be rocked by slower fighters.
Somewhere in this fight Baer will rock Holyfield but his amazing
recuperative power's will ensure his survival.
Holyfield on pts in a bruising battle.

Can't see anyone - not even prime Foreman - obliterating Evander.

Riddick Bowe knocked him dead with a right hand in their third fight

To be fair, Holyfield probably shouldn't have been in the ring that day!

It seems that he was not a well man going into the figth, and that was peoples impression at the time.

Holyfield had been diagnosed with a heart problem after the Moorer fight and retired. He later claimed that he had been cured by a faith healer, and made a comeback. A clinic claimed on examination that he had been misdiagnosed, and he got his boxing licence back, but many people were skeptical of their diagnosis. Holyfield claimed that he was suffering from Hepatitis A going into the fight. Whatever the reason, Holyfield was exhausted by the fifth round. George Foreman stood up and called for the fight to be stopped, and actually shouted out that Holyfield had heart trouble.

This was not hailed as a great win for Bowe when it happened.

With both at their best, it would be a war. Evander never boxed a complete fight, he would trade with Baer and get rocked more often than not. That said, I think Evander's chin holds up and he out works Baer over the long run for a hard earned decision.

A series would be interesting because both were injury prone and inconsistent.

Holyfield wins with ease. There isn't a scenario that I wouldnt give Holyfield the advantage in. Even a slugfest, Holyfield would be landing the cleaner more telling blows and baer would succumb to it.

I like your analysis , I favor Evander 60-40 but I don't know if I'd bet on it. Baer is one of the hardest hitters in heavyweight history and Holyfield is susceptible .

Holyfield would have a tough fight with Baer but eventually would take over and probably stop him at some point

The Baer that demolished Schmeling is a tough match for any heavy. I see prime Evander getting inside and grinding out a descision.

Christalmighty, people. Baer couldn't carry Vander's jock. He has ZERO chance. A prime Vander isn't being hit by a windup, County Fair, strongman punch... And Maxie is only getting a chance to land one for the few rounds before he has absorbed too much punishment to continue.
