Ive no idea why you would have scrutiny towards British heavyweights. Britain have arguably produced the best heavyweights of the last 10 years, only possibly Russia and Ukraine have produced better. Tyson Fury, David Haye, Anthony Joshua all became heavyeweight champions. Hughie could easily have got the decision against Parker etc. Chisora and Bellew have been gokd heavyweughtd. Only Price has been a prospect that has failed. Joe Joyce has been killing it in the amateurs.

Strange that you said this. Russia, Ukraine and the UK are the 3 countries you should have the most faith in their heavyweights.

I could understand if you had said Germany ( most of their HW prospects are terrible), Sweden, Nigeria, South Africa, Mexico, etc

Ukraine yes but Russia? Which top HWs has Russia produced in the last ten years? Certainly not as many as the UK.

Who would you like a 20 year old novice heavy to face at this stage of his career, top 10's.He's been a pro for 8 months!!.Had 6 fights, boxed 9 rounds in all.
Ok,he can bang ,but that don't mean you rush him,he's a baby.He needs time to learn his trade.Wilders been doing it for 9 years...

I believe somewhat in Joshua and do think the UK has improved a bit as heavyweights over the past ten years, but my wait and see approach toward them is based on 100+ years of history. Joshua's signature win was over a 41 year old champion who had not fought in 1.5 years, and he barely won it. He has a lot to prove.

    Let me explain:

Outside of Bob Fitzsimmons, who was the champion in the 1890's the British, who virtually invented the sport went 100 years before having another lineal heavyweight champion ( Lennox Lewis ), and the one they got was Jamaican by ancestry, who fought for Canada in the Olympics.

During this 100 year shut out, UK heavies were just not very good, too chinny, sometimes lacking in stamina, and tended to fold outside of their Island. The examples are numerous.

To fast forward to the past ten years:

Tyson Fury just caught an aging champion ( Wlad Klitschko ) who was a bit lackadaisical at the right time when Fury happened to be in his best shape. Fury was essentially a one-hit wonder in a transitional time and he may never box again.

Haye fights scared in the ring vs. anyone decent. And he has a glass jaw.

Chisora, and Hugo Fury, not top ten material.

Dubois shouldn’t be mentioned in the same breath as Wilder, Fury, AJ, Parker until 2019 at least. As you said he’s a baby. He’s got plenty of time on his side. No need to rush him although he does need tougher opponents who will give him much needed rounds.

I'm holding fire on Dubois atm... looks good, v powerful and strong, but to reach the top it takes more than a hard shot

So far so good but it's too early to tell his potential yet

It wasn't many years ago you told us you were 34. At what age did you start watching fights?

I think he needs 10 more fights at least against progressively better opposition, and heavyweights, 2 of his victims were cruisers. Whether he can take it remains to be seen he hasn't met a puncher as a pro but there is plenty of time for that.
What he needs are durable opponents that will take him rounds and guys that between them have a mixture of styles, runners cuties, swarmers etc. Names like
Larry Olubamiwo not dangerous but durable.
Tom Dallas a keep busy fight
    Jason Gavern experienced
    Gary Cornish tall
    Dave Allen durable
    Michael Sprott experienced

Great puncher but if you look at his interviews he is not marketable AT ALL. Very nervous and shy demeanor; in combat sports you're on your own, you gotta promote your personality as well as your skills. This is something people don't give AJ credit for. Maybe he just needs some of the old Matchroom media training,

Yeah bit off topic, Daniel Dubois has great potential as a KO artist but I feel like he will be one of those fighters Warren will have trouble finding opponents for. Good luck to him, I'm rooting for every single british prospect, Matchroom, Boxnation, Cyclone whatever. Even O'hara and Conor Benn lol.
