Linares same ××××. He's internationally recognized as one of the best lightweights but doesnt have a solid fan base in the US. I think the money would've been around the same for all 3 unification fights, Garcia was just smart. Cant knock himfor that.

One more win for Easter and Linares and the Mikey Garcia fight vs either one would be bigger.

Good point on Robert, but after Lipinets, it'll have been over a year since he actually fought at 135.

After turning down the two top names there to stick at 140, I have to wonder if he's ever actually going back. Broner at 140 I get, but it's not like Lipinets is a big name that would do more for him than unifying with Linares or Easter.

We'll see how it plays out. I don't want to jump to conclusions too quickly, but it seems like an odd choice of moves.

You don't want to jump to conclusions?

Mikey called out Pacquiao, Crawford, and Lomachenko, but then left Top Rank KNOWING that all three fights were waiting for him.

Mikey called out Linares and Cotto, but walked when both fights were on the table for him.

Mikey also called out Thurman, but if Thurman actually took him seriously, you can bet your left nutsack that he'd then walk away from that as well.

Mikey's name dropping to maintain buzz, but the reality is that he's protecting that 0 with the least amount of risk.

Andre Ward said once you move up you never move back down.
Mikey is gonna have back to back camps at 140. So yeah this is his new weight class.

    He's safe in bumland.

It pains me a bit on this one to agree with you and Paranoid because I think Garcia is a hell of a fighter, but it does seem too convenient he's navigated away from all these big fights that were lined up for him. Which is a damn shame because I think he's got the H2H chops to make some great fights against the top guys.

Based on his diva like behavior, he should change his name to Mikey Godcia.

    One more thing...

Mikey approached Lomachenko at the ESPN fight and said that he wanted to fight...

Since then, Mikey's been saying that Arum won't work with him while Lomachenko and Arum have both said they wanted the fight.

if thats how mikey feels so be it . i respect that. mikey is fighting lipinets. i think lipinets is good. so i dont mind this fight instead of mikey vs linares or easter. all 3 are good fights. linares wants to move up to 140 im sure so i think we will be seeing mikey vs linares at 140 next yr an it should be some what highly anticipated to real boxing fans.

    That's probably right, but he's still 5-7.

I think sometimes these guys move up in weight for a real simple reason, they just want to eat more. I think Postol would beat Mikey, and I think Felix Diaz would give him all the trouble in the world. How would he do against even an average 6-0 guy like Indongo? 5 inches is a lot for a guy who is not a pressure fighter. Prograis, Orozco, Bartalemy are undefeated young guys, and Are you sure mikey beats Granados? He's one of the most underrated guys in boxing.

He may be from the Rigo school of boxing business, is Lipinets turns out to be a tough out. He stated that Easter is tall and has reach, and could make things difficult, and that the money wasn't right for that type of fight. Garcia better be able to bang like Robert says, because the new Provodnikov is going to be on that arse.

The only guy I see giving him problems is Barthelemy but that fight is not happening, no money in it. Prograis is a good prospect.
