Is Frankie Randall a great fighter?

Very good but not great for me. Chavez was on the slide tho i would unabashedly call Randall's victory a sensational one. At his best he could certainly fight.

 

I remember feeling "holy **** hes actually pulling it off! Chavez is in BIG trouble" when randall put him down with that right hand.

 

Triangle theories don't work in Boxing.

Kosta had MANY better nights than Frankie & many better performances.

I will elaborate:

I am saying Peak for Peak. I am not saying Randall rates higher than Tzyu career wise.

Tzyu's best win is the highly flawed Zab Judah.

I can't confidently say Tzyu had any "better night" than Randall's upset of JC Chavez.

Randall's pin straight right would land on Tzyu repeadedly.

Phillips had no problem landing that punch on Kostya and neither did a faded Roger Mayweather.

Frankie's right hand was better than that of Phillips and better than Mayweather's at the time Mayweather fought Tzyu.

Frankie was great the night he defeated Chavez and very, very good most other nights.

Keep in mind, he'd really only been decisively defeated once in 58 fights up until he met Rahilou. Three of his other losses were abbreviated (and dubious) TD decisions to a sill-dangerous Chavez and mulit-time 140lb titleholder Coggi, as well as a razor thin loss to the once beaten Rosario in a fight that could easily have gone the other way. That leaves his sudden, unexpected KO loss to a dangerous Primo Ramos in a fight where he appeared to lose concentration after cruising through the first. But on the whole, he was a very dangerous guy to face when he was at his best.

The very best Randall probably showed up for the Chavez fights, but by that time those were finished his prime had just about ended. Up until then, he was regarded as a dangerous, skilled contender who lacked the charisma needed to be someone you had to fight. Plus, his momentum tended to stall at all the wrong times, due to those out of ring issues that you mentioned.

Still, at his absolute best, there aren't that many junior welterweights in history who can beat him.

 

He was a surgeon , even brought his doctors outfit to the ring in case boxing didn't work out so he was always on call.

Sorry, but KT's right hand was a MISSILE. His straight right is WAY better than Frankie's.

He beat JCC in like '94, was it? JCC had been around forever at that point.

I'll go with Randall

Peak for peak just means at their highest level

Randall's highest level > Tzyu's, in my opinion..

btw: Tzyu beat Chavez SIX years after Randall did.

Head to head, prime for prime I'll go with Randall

Tzyu was very vulnerable to a straight right, moreso than Randall was.

So it's more of who is more likely to get hurt by the other guy's right hand.

That would be Tzyu, who ate the right hands of a faded Roger Mayweather and was kod by the right hands of Vince PHillips.

Since the right hand of Randall showed against Chavez was much better than faded Mayweather's right hand or Phillip's, I'll go with Randall over Tzyu.

There is no evidence that "Tzyu's right hand was way better than Randall's right hand."

Randall dropped '94 Chavez with a single right hand shot. In 2000, Tzyu stopped a much worse version of Chavez with an accumulation of punishemt and cuts.

 

Why is KT considered a great fighter but Randall isn't?
Randall beat a better version of Chavez.
He beat Coggi who was very good.
Avenged his loss to Rosario even though Rosario was past his best.
Coggi is a better win then almost anyone KT beat.
