Tyson too fast for Cooney. Also Tyson took a hell of a punch Cooney would have to tag him a few times and that's not happening. Cooney was dangerous and it's a shame his management held him back against more top competition but Tyson was a RARE talent he wins

Create a “Cooney and Adversity” thread if you really wanna see who has the better Stans (fans).

Based on a debate that’s currently 21 pages long and the carpal tunnel syndrome I’m developing as a result, I predict Cooney’s fans have nothing on Tyson’s Stans.

Tyson’s Stans are a resilient, albeit delusional bunch. If Tyson had a fraction of their tenacity and self-belief, he’d be entering his 30th year as the still undefeated, undisputed heavyweight champion. By this time, he’d be administering Spinks like 91 second beatdowns to the entire Top 10 in ONE night.

As for the fight itself, Tyson gives Cooney the Sammy Scaffa treatment.

Lol! Wow! All the bull**** I read about Cooney s ferocity and Tysons animal attack and now their sycophants won't come out and play! Kinda like Cooney against an opponent with a heartbeat. Oh well, I tried. I really thought the loonies would slug it out with the Tysonites.

You’re crazy for thinking Cooney fans could hang with Tyson Stans. I didn’t know Cooney had any fans left after all these years. Plus those Tyson Stans will go to the end of the earth to try to convince you the ATG standings look something like this:

    1. Pre Douglas Tyson
    2. Post prison Tyson
    3. SRR
    4. Ali
    5. Everyone else

    Hi Michael Gerard Tyson,

I can’t believe you took time away from your celebrity tour to become a member of this boxing forum. I’ve heard you’re a well respected boxing historian, capable of tracing the uninterrupted lineage of the heavyweight title all the way back to the 1800s. Since that’s the case, I look forward to hearing how you think you measure up to the unquestioned greats, e.g., Johnson, Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Patterson, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes, Holyfield, Lewis, and the Klitchkos when it comes to the following:

    1. Avenging a loss.
    2. Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat against a fighter of EQUAL or GREATER ability than yourself. FYI, I realize Ruddock and Tillis came to win and didn’t fold the first time you landed cleanly. However, since these two honest fighters were LESS talented than you and came into the fight as significant underdogs I don’t think you can cite them as examples to meet this criteria.

While you’re at it, we’d like to know why you decided to:

    1. Try to give Ruddock a fistic vasectomy.
    2. Try to break Botha’s arm when you were nowhere near a UFC2015 endorsed octagon.
    3. Bite Holyfield’s ear.
    4. Bite Lennox’s thigh.

Last but not least we’re hoping you could tell us how you feel about your fans. We’re specifically interested in hearing why you conducted Tuesday Night Fights caliber preparation in order to headline PPV level events that hardworking fans had to pay $50 to watch. Considering that your most loyal fans attribute your 5 post prison losses to the fact that you were washed up, do you feel guilty about fans who had to pay premium prices to see you go through the motions to deliver an inferior product?

Again Mike, it’s an honor to share space in this forum with you.

    Regards,

I'd be surprised and a little impressed by Cooney if he managed to last into the 2nd round with prime Tyson.

I'd be impressed if the gutless heartless cherrypicking diva even got in the ring with Tyson. Because you and me both know, THAT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN!

If Michael Spinks can TKO Gerry Cooney, why can't Tyson do it?

The matching shallow response to this is if Kevin McBride can TKO Tyson why can't Cooney?
