Daniel Dubois. The best UK puncher at heavyweight

True but very different, Joe Louis was a the first black national hero and he certainly wasn't shy when it came to voicing his political opinions. I guess its too early to tell with Dubois yet

 

I'm over 40 now and have been on this board for a long time. I remember watching some fights from the early 1980's, including Cooney vs Holmes.

I think you Brits have got something in Dubois. After Hrgovic, I'd rate Dubois the 2nd best young pro prospect, over Yoka, Dychko, and Joyce with the rating being professional potential, not amateur accomplishments.

As long as he doesn't have a bad chin Dobois will go far. He's already flattened Joshua in sparring.

 

David Price flattened Joshua in sparring and Price was a highly touted prospect because of his power early on too, just like Dubois.

Even if Dubois' chin passes the test he still has a lot to prove to be regarded as world class. He has a good jab which Price lacked, but he needs to still show things like if he can box off the back foot at all, does he have a good enough defence should he find himself against an opponent who isn't afraid to trade, does he counter punch, can he cut off the ring against a mobile target etc.

As you say the potential is there, but potential only takes you so far. It's easy to look good against over matched opposition when you just walk out and fight your fight and everything goes your way. But a fighters true worth is judged by how he copes with adversity. Time will tell.

 

Price has a certifiable glass jaw in the amateurs, he was going no where.

I think Joshua has a suspect chin vs punchers, but lucky for him he has a good heart to fight back when hurt and is smart enough to foul or rule bend when hurt. He does need to watch his weight, and should stop building the extra muscles a bit if you want my opinion.

I think Dobois is in Tua's class as a hitter, except he's got far better range, punch variety, and accuracy. This alone can take him to the top ten, which lacks depth at spots #6-10. While he has a lot to learn and should not be fast tracked, the potential I think it there. He has already sparred vs the best. I'd probably pick him over Wilder in 2020!

He looks well balanced and composed for such a big lump.

Can' say if he blhits hard everyone he's been in with had been small fat hw . Joshua would send those opponents into the upper tier

 

Dubois needs to go rounds, these KO1's don't teach him anything.
Warren is doing a poor job 'developing' him.

 

Price knocked him out, but he didn't play with him like Dubios did. Also those were the earlier younger pre- roided days of Joshua. He's now transformed and that is the version Dubios toyed around with.

The boy literally had has own way with Joshua in Sparring and slapped him around for fun. You don't do that to the heavyweight champion

Not with skill, accuracy, speed, timing or variety. On a single shot, they are pretty close.

 

Louis didn't make any statements on the race issue,he only commented on the US entering the War.

 

Needs to be at British title level or close to it by the end of 2018 definitely a devastating fighter worth following but it's all about levels and hopefully we can see him progress through them
