Low blows: Andre Ward vs Kovalev 2

Understood, I have no qualms there.

You actually bring up a a pretty intriguing sub topic that Navigator touched on. How does an observer truly gauge the impact and effect of a low blow when the test group (boxers) all react differently to them. Prime example is the recent bout between Vargas/Nefertiti where both men landed some vicious beltline blows that where ultimately brushed off as afterthoughts by both fighters. To make the situation even more fascinating was the lack of involvement from the ref who might have made one pre-pre warning and smallish acknowledgement.

So I ask what separates these men from Kovalev? Is it the size of his nads the quality of the cup? Wards massive power? The position of punch, trajectory? I dunno.

I mean there were instances where Ward would land a hellacious body shot right below the ribs and Kovalev would recognize the pain but not overly express his discomfort and then conversely grimace in utter despair to a 4 inch midsection punch on the letters?... truly bizarre

I also realize I can be quite patronizing and self righteous as a poster but it’s more a testament to my passion versus any perceived inability to accept when I’m wrong or showing biased.

 

Kovalev ought to file a class action lawsuit.

To have the ref stop the fight after a low blow assault rather than give 5 minutes to recover. What a sickening event.

 

The problem is that you're assuming that they were low blows with an "s". Low blows do affect you-if they land low. Wards blow weren't called low. Kov just said that they were low.

 

While it's purely speculative on my part, i suggest that Kovalev knew the judges had been against him the last fight, felt the referee was against him in the present fight,and since the underhandedness of Ward's cowardly actions continued to go unpunished, thereby encouraging pos to continue being a dirt-bag, who's to say how many more low blows Ward would've landed had the fight continued? At least Kovalev left without permanent damage to his jewels. It never ceases to amaze me how that little shi* Ward is viewed.

Who cares if Weeks or NSAC were dismissed? Is that supposed to mean something? Look at how when Khan fought Peterson (different commission, I know), but you had someone talking with the judges, enter the ring etc and nothing was questioned.

I am a great admirer of all boxers, fighters willing to put themselves on the line to either entertain or make a better life for themselves. You cant help but post with some form of respect or passion with that in mind.

 

Even though a video, like every other poster on ESB, pwns you with evidence to say otherwise.

Its funny, nowadays people will blatantly due that or bait it and then when they get the response they want theyll have the gall to play the victim. Im not opening that can of worms either, they have to live with themselves. Just setting the record straight for anyone unaware or in denial of the reality of the situation.

 

You say he has no fight in him. How much fight would you have after having your family jewels tattooed time & time again by a pro boxer ?? Please do not try the" borderline" either video's prove they were low & BLATANT !!
Ward cannot & will not fight unless he has every advantage legal & illegal ,a la Mayweather. I cannot & will not respect any boxer that does that. The winner of any match should be the better man on the Night Not the one with the influence & $$$ behind him.

but merely do his job & call a foul a FOUL !! & officiate FAIRLY !! Weekes did NOT do that
