Pretty sure Obama was younger when he became POTUS then Roy will be when this fight happens. Kinda crazy when you think about it!

At first I though it was actually his last fight. What a disappointment.

If Roy has another one of those fan draws to fight a fan again, I'm stacking the ballot with my name. I'd do far better than that chump from Minnesota or wherever he was from. I'd be on Roy's arse like white on rice, like Salido on Lomachenko(minus the low blows), Like Maidana was on Floyd. He would have to earn the KO. lol

Glen isn't even 50 now, he's 48 (same as Jones until both celebrate their forty-ninth b-days next month), and he's 2½ years retired, and was honestly barely even fringe world class any longer as of years ago when Fonfara beat him at the age of 43.

Right now Johnson doesn't even sniff a victory over 30 year old Sigmon, even if he remained active since Yildrim. He got out not a moment too soon. Even before that skid of three losses at the end, he wasn't beating anyone even halfway decent. Jaime Velasquez? Junior Ramos? Who? Bobby freaking Gunn was his best scalp since Allan Green all the way back in 2010. (with another lengthy winless streak in between)

I don't blame you, that is what thousands of people mistakenly think because Dan Rafael is too lazy to watch a one minute video to fact-check.

I'd love to see Obama vs. Jones ...on the b-ball court.

Also, did you know that Roy's son, RJIII, is a high school hoops star? Currently a senior, he averages 14 PPG, and 2/2/2 rebounds/steals/assists.

I wonder if RJJ pushed him to develop his athletic itch on the parquet rather than in the ring because of his own experiences getting his brain rattled.. (and not wanting to become a 2nd-generation source of "coach dad syndrome")

We don't really know how active he's been in the gym and it's not like he was hopelessly shot against Skoglund or Yıldırım either. That Johnson dusts of Sigmon without issue and I wouldn't write him off today despite the inactivity.

Not worth a separate thread so I'll just do a verbal poll here:

If he cops professional loss #10 here, should Roy be petitioned by concerned fans to instantly retire, or should he be allowed to keep trudging on with his farewell tour against C+ grade competition (with Sigmon types as maybe the hard ceiling)?

    a) yes, give me a pen.
    b) this petition is actually overdue, he shouldn't be sanctioned anymore.
    c) depends on whether Sigmon beats him on points or stoppage (and particularly if via brutal KO)
    d) leave him be, he's just living his best live.

The strongest lasting impressions of late-era Johnson that I can recall offhand are the Makabu and Groves losses, and YEESH. That dude, on those nights, was ****ing useless. Against the latter he didn't even come within spitting distance of winning a single round, and the former beat the **** out of him.

I'm usually the type of guy who says "let 'em fight if they can pass the medicals," but Roy is just a classic case that screams INTERVENTION!!! Funny thing is, I remember reading an article in one of the boxing mags back in the early 90s where Roy said he wanted to retire before he hit THIRTY!!!

At least he didn't pull the ultimate scumbag move his archrival Hopkins did, promising his mother on her deathbed he'd retire at 40 and then just casually breaking it. (by like a decade)

The version that fought Pavlik maybe, and that's a tiny little slight maybe, and even that version lost almost every round to Kelly IIRC. But no, I don't think this version will trouble Roy all that much, he's no Enzo Mac.:deal: Who I did pick to KO Jones.:D
