Not what you said...stand by your words or man up and admit a mistake. Charles was 32/33 and 185 to 190. Marciano was 30/31 and 185 to 190. If Charles was an old light heavyweight, Marciano was an old light heavyweight. Why does career "slope" matter, you dont care Moore was at his fighting peak. And so far you got two questionable names...that it? Marciano has more relevant wins than that.
My gosh, Bruno was a joke but you act like he was Gerry Cooney of the second minute of the Holmes fight who can beat any Heavyweight Champion in history including the Holmes of the Holmes fight. Well. Since this is obviously the new year of being ridiculous, let me tell you how Scott Frank would wipe Brunos HORIZONTAL HEAVYWEIGHT ass all across England if they ever fought. Then, I will tell you how Buster Mathis, because he is bigger, cleans up on everyone from Patterson on down to Sullivan. Because they are bigger, Willard and Carnera beat Mathis.
Not really Charles had a ton of mileage on his clock and had won only 2 of his last 4 fights. Nobody who is being objective would call Charles prime when he fought Marciano ,whereas Marciano most certainly was.
If you weren't special, you weren't beating Bruno. When I mean special, I mean the very best. He just couldn't beat the very best. Everyone that beat Bruno I expect to beat Marciano easier ! If they were evenly matched size wise then its obvious a beating ensues in favour of The Rock
Nope Moore had 218 fights and over 150 of them were in the lower divisions. Moore's mother insisted he was 2 years older than he claimed.
Who are the decent," much larger men" that Moore stopped? The US Census has the wrong date for Sonny Liston's birth.Case open. There are 2 dates for Moore's birth and two locations. I tend to think his Mother would be a reliable source! BORN December 13 1916 (or 1913); Benoit, Mississippi (Recent sources report Collinsville, Illinois)
But you see the people who beat Bruno were not the best. People like Smith and Witherspoon were more the tier below the very best. He also admitted in his biography that he dodged a bullet against Floyd Cummings. If you think that these people would have beaten Marciano, then I have to say that many would beg to differ. Bruno was a very beatable guy. These losses are not in themselves all that damaging. What is damaging is that he doesn't have the corresponding wins to put against them. That is why his reputation as a destroyer is built out of spit and sawdust.
What have I said that's changed ? More relevant wins? Jersey joe, Joe Louis ? They were the last fights they ever fought, old men with miles and miles on the clock. Moore was having his 120th fight lol to Rockys 49, c'mon man..Rocky couldn't make light heavy at any stage Ezzard could
Witherspoon and smith were top tier, pushing Holmes and Tyson hard. They deserved to be in the ring with them who are top 10 ever, or we going to say Holmes wasn't himself and Tyson had an off night ! They were big strong men with skills !
You have boxrec, im not going to pull any names out of a hat that cant be found there. The US census actually states Liston was 10 in 1940. I believe it to be correct. Listons official birthdate was a guess.
