Justified concerns?

  1. Both must be downgraded to increase Rockys stock

    52.4%
  2. Pure coincidence with no bearing on hypothetical match

    28.6%
  3. Can't decide

To beat a small swarmer you need to be

    1. A fast stepping boxer who can hit hard enough to get his respect.
    2. A bigger hard hitting guy who can catch him coming in, trade with him and outmuscle him inside.
Those names I gave I think can do that. Size alone won't do it as Humphrey Jackson[twice mentioned now],proved, you need quality and power as well.

Its like when fans of the Beatles attempt to subtly downplay the legacy of The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. It's transparent, however much they try to disguise the agenda.
They always try to shift the debate back to The Beatles v The Rolling Stones, that old diversion. It's been going on for decades now.

Whether The Beatles were overrated or not is besides the point. The fact of the matter is, even IF they are the GOAT when all things considered, they can't be evaluated next to The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band without coming off looking a lot lesser than they could have been.
It's just one of those things.
Put those two bands side by side, live, or track for track, studio album for studio album, and by any analysis of musical value you choose, The Beatles come off second best. Blown off the stage, to be honest.

So Beatles fanatics are always snidely attempting to downplay The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band but never directly mentioning the elephant in the room, ie. The Beatles gross stylistic disadvantage.
They'll just throw in some downgrading comments about The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band at any opportunity and act like it has nothing to do with their obvious Beatles nuthuggery.

I don't know how Bummy Davis stood on that particular issue - ( I wouldn't like to make any firm claims vis-a-vis Bummy, The Beatles and The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band) - but if you look through the threads you'll notice he hasn't been around since the last time I mentioned it. And that perhaps speaks for itself.

Makes me wonder whether Ali fans might be going around downplaying Marciano...
    Because, let's face it ...
Marciano woulda been a nightmare opponent for The Greatest .

Just to clarify, you are of opinion that all of the above are better h2h than both Liston & Foreman?
I respect your opinion but strongly disagree with Jeffries & Tunney.

Only because the Marciano cheerleaders are far more ridiculous than the Foreman fans on this forum.

Foreman cheerleaders: "Foreman hit really, really hard. Harder than any other man who ever lived."

Marciano cheerleaders: "Marciano hit really, really hard. Harder than all but a handful of men who ever lived. He was also fast, defensively gifted, extremely smart, blessed with superhuman strength for his size, technically impeccable, and very hard to hit. If he didn't run 10-15 miles every day and starve during training camp, he'd have been the same size as Mike Tyson. It is a grevious insult to suggest that any non-'ATG' could ever beat him. 49-0!"

Again, you have to look at who is more proactive in pushing their agenda.

You cant say that the Marciano cheerleaders are unreasonable, just because you disagree with their counterargument!

Just to clarify, this thread applies to the minority.

A high percentage of Marciano fans are realistic when it comes to matching him with both larger & heavyhitting opponents.
However, we have the few who just cannot publically bring themselves to admit he could lose in one of those bouts and they are the ones i was highlighting.

Whether all of the above is due to skin colour, religion or country of birth god only knows but it happens.

I am sure that 2018 will be the year when we finally achieve consensus on the Marciano issue.

I thought this was about a guy who dont post here no more, who happened to be a fan of Marciano and critical of Foreman.

Not how people pick in fantasy fights.

Tbh honest, with each passing year we lose more of the older generation and along with it their overprotective and biased views.
These are primarily the ones that will sadly take their beliefs to the grave.
Who knows, in 10-20 yrs time you will probably struggle to see Marcianos name on even a top 20 list.
