Quigg v Oscar Valdes

Has the potential to be an absolute war this, could be good.

I'm not sold on Valdez, pretty confident he won't ever be a great, but he swings for the fences with every shot and has a bit of pop behind him. Quigg meanwhile, at this higher weight has been very unimpressive. Doesn't seem to hit as hard and has zero defence. If Quigg doesn't improve on his last few fights he's getting stopped late. But until that point this could be very entertaining.

 

Good fight, proper matchmaking.

 

Be a terrific fight. Actually think win or lose the fight will take something from both fighters as it will be a savage war.

 

Frampton must be gutted if fight gets made as he's much higher in BOY rankings is a former big Champion and he went with Frank over Eddie. Logic tells me if he went with Eddie he would have got this fight instead of Quigg. Maybe Frank will beat Eddie and get this fight for Carl, time will tell.

 

The fact that the news was first released stateside then Eddie confirmed it must mean it's extremely close.

 

Quiggs has regressed into a a face first brawler since losing to Frampton. His move to USA hasn't worked at all. He should've stayed with Joe Gallagher.

 

Why would Frampton be upset about this news? But he should've gone with Eddie alright.

 

After Gallagher's absurd gameplan vs Frampton I think not.

 

Well ok ...but have his fight "game plans" improved since leaving JG...I think not!

Judging by his last couple of showings Quigg has deteriorated! From BoxRec Valdez is scheduled to make a defence Stateside in March against a TBC so that could be Quigg ? Valdez would have to be average for Quigg to stand a chance

 

I would really look fwd to this fight if it got made.
Scott certainly hasnt looked the same since he went to roach but he has stated that it has been down to himself on the night as opposed to anything hes doing (or isnt doing) come fight night. He still seems to believe that the move to roach was the right move.
Im not sure that Carl ( had he gone with eddie) would of got the fight.
Taking quigg as a voluntry at this stage in his career wouldnt be seen quite as risky as taking carl frampton, in team Valdez reckoning, i would of thought.

 

I'll wait for proof this fight IS going ahead before getting too excited about it.

Quigg ...like Frampton....was a monster at 122.... But he too has lost something at 126. It's all very well Quigg saying he has been treating his 126 opponents with contempt for their lack of power etc that he has simply walked thru them etc etc...and that he can and will revert to high class boxing if needed ....but the fact is he has looked awful at 126.

There is no guarantee "not so hot Scott" can just flick a switch and magically turn into a super boxer on demand...he claims he can ...but I'm not convinced.

 

I disagree re: Staying with Gallagher. But i don't think Roach is the trainer that will assist him in the subtle nuances he clearly lacks. On the plus side he will get better sparring and offensively should be as good as he has ever been. As long as he doesn't revert to type and looks to take the initiative early on in this one then its a winnable fight IMO and well worth the risk
