Not sure if the ESB community is interested in discussing this but I have always rated current fighters along the following guidelines:

Hall of Famer- Fighters on their way to Canastota.

Elite- Top 50 -100 Pound for pound guys building towards greatness.

World Class- Top contenders, usually the top 10 or 12 in each weight class.

Journeymen- Fighters that are put in front of either the world class guys coming off a loss or guys with world class potential as a test or stay busy fight.

Club Fighters- The guys with many more losses than wins.

I would love to hear how the community names and structures their tiers.

Is “Gatekeeper” a term you use?

I'd describe journeyman as what you have for club fighters and call the journeyman category "gatekeeper"

Andy Lee and world class haven't belonged in the same sentence for a while. He's degraded to UK domestic level in my opinion. No way in hell Lee is World Class, but Takam is a journeyman. lol. Caleb Truax is also world class, he justbeat the pretty boy slapper with the fine sister. Darnell Boone would be considered a journeyman.

I'd narrow elite to top 10-30 p4p if world class is going to cover the top 10 of each weight class. Too much overlap between the top 100 and the top 170 fighters otherwise.
