My thoughts: 1 ) Above average talent, with two sure-fire hall of active fame fighters, and perhaps a third that will eventually be enshrined. 2 ) There haven't been many great middleweight fights, partly to the dominance of Hopkins and GGG. 3 ) My top ten from 2000-2017 in a who beats who sense: GGG Hopkins Martinez Pavlik Taylor Canelo Jacobs BJ Sanders - A bit of a gamble as his career isn't close to over, I think he's very good. If there was any weight divisions that hadn't been introduced into boxing, I wish it were the light middleweights but particularly the super middleweights. I really feel the decline in quality of the middleweight division over the past 20 years or so has been fighters too quickly moving up from middleweight. Once you get over 147, it makes sense to increase the space between the weights and it creates deeper weight classes in terms of talent. The old welterweight to middleweight jump of 13 pounds and then 15 pounds from middleweight to lightheavy was perfect. I actually think the introduction of the cruiserweights made perfect sense as the new inbetweener weight class. But light middle and super middle messed up the middleweight division.
Well-- Hopkins had 11 title defenses in the 2000's at middle weight, he lost twice to Taylor, and his best win was likely over Tito, a welter weight moving up. Using your logic, you probably have Taylor above Hopkins as he beat him twice! I think GGG has had more title defenses, and looked more dominant in the 2000's, which is why I put him #1. GGG beat Canelo in the eyes of the overwhelming media people who scored the fight and the draw came from one very bad judge who scored it for Canelo. My intention here is not to smother you with facts on GGG vs Canelo so lets move on form your point and let the other posters comment.
