This matchup always got me to thinking simply because they had similar styles, with Tucker being slightly larger and somewhat harder hitting. I know many will make Ali the favorite and he should be, but how would Ali cope with a bigger man who can box and move and has an excellent chin in his prime?

Ali's supreme will to win would overcome the small disadvantages in size and reach. Ali UD.

Kind of what I was thinking. But how does he do it? My thought is that he out works Tucker and beats him to the punch.

Watch Ali-Terrell for a clue. Or post-prime Ali against Bugner.

Tucker would win a few rounds, but only because Ali would spend them coasting. A bit of a clash of styles here, not one to set the world on fire IMO. So I go Ali unanimous decision.

Its not a small advantage in size, Tucker is a good bit bigger than Ali. That said Ali UD !

Tucker had a good chin, ali had an even better one

Tucker was quick and mobile, ali was even quicker and more mobile

See where im going with this?
Tuckers size and reach would trouble ali for a few rounds until he finds a way to hit tucker without getting hit back and then its all ali from there

Terrell was a good bit bigger, look where that got him.

I'd argue that Terrell wasn't as mobile nor as good a fighter as a prime Tucker, but I don't think he'd beat Ali.

Why would you argue that Terrell wasn't as good as Tucker? His resume certainly was a fair bit stronger than Tucker's.

Tucker is one of those fighters that will be overlooked BC he's not popular, which goes further than the actual fighter in boxing.

He had a great amateur background with multiple national championships, his only loss at his peak was too Tyson .

His 6' 5 230 frame who worked off the jab would cause fits for Ali the only thing missing was a great resume and his father made sure he got easy fights up until his 35th fight against Douglas who he stopped.

Given the fact he did beat Douglas who can be placed in the Ali style somewhat of a long range mover and jabber he has shown really no weaknesses until meeting Tyson.

Its all perception , do you consider Tucker better than the other tall jabbers that Ali fought? I do. Let's also not forget he went 12 rounds with Lewis in 1993 way past his best and still had Foreman ducking him.

Had Spinks not ducked him either his career probably looks a little different BC I think he wins that.

Ali vs Tucker? I'm not really sure its a give me for either . Ali wouldn't exactly have reach he liked nor the power to worry him.

I would probably side with Tucker here considering Ali didn't exactly react to jabs well that reached him. Tucker has 3 inches of height and had a 82 inch reach.

The easy thing is too pick Ali but looking at weakness's something ppl don't like to do...its a difficult fight for Ali against a top legit 80's guy who arguably could have been in the running with Larry Holmes had he been smarter.

    I'll say 50/ 50 but I would favor Tucker.

Ali would run rings around him, absolutely box his head off. Tucker and Ali aren't in the same timezone I'm afraid!

I suppose you'r right, if Tucker hadn't shattered his hand in the Tyson fight he would have knocked Mike out and ruled the division for a good few years so much was his talent......
