Stop basing fighters ability off their old/worst fights

What about bashing fighters based on their own talk when their actual skills/performance/choice of opposition paint a radically different picture?

Nobody was bashing Wilder about his losses in the ams or his Scorniers knockdown when he was more humble and level-headed just a short 3 years ago. Yes, people said he's vulnerable and all, but nobody hated a guy who said he had a lot to learn and wants to make it to the top through hard work.

Fast forward 3 years, and Wilder is crying that he is not getting the attention he deserves, he says everyone is ducking him, he whines how the boxing industry is rigged against him because he's black (which is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a while) and he demands 50/50 because he's the A side and everyone else is a step below him.

Wilder deserves all the hate. He's asking for it.

 

Good thread OP, but it's more relevant to how haters point out about lomachenko's struggled against Salido than the other two fighters you mentioned above.
We know how much Loma has improve since, but a lot here will point to that single loss about how he failed to contain a certain style, which IMHO is not true.
AJ has his share of detractors, a lot of people here are fans of Wladimir, including myself, but respect are given cause he won fair and square and proven his worth.
Now, wilder obviously is better than his amateur days but he talks louder than he walks, he still sucks as so far he has proven against nobody.

Lol you’re dead right,I use this yardstick to see if they are just a Lomo hater as we all know Salido came in as Welterweight and was close to being stopped late on anyway.
Rematch is pointless as Lomo would win so easily now,anyway ten of Lomochenkos eleven fights have all been world title fights against some very impressive opposition,haters had him losing to Walters and more recently Rigo and now there mantra will be he’ll lose to Gervonta Davis or Mikey Garcia lol.

 

Just as Sparring stories have no basis either,AJ has apparently been hurt a few times in sparring and has said as much but he’s shown against Wlad that it’s how you deal with on the night that counts.
Steve Bunce who was ringside that night insists that AJ was out cold when he hit the canvas from that big right hand,I don’t remember it quite as bad as that but then again I wasn’t ringside,him getting up slowly and taking the count was equally impressive for someone so inexperienced I thought.

True, I try to go more by technical ability than record, however, that's kind of hard to do in boxing.

As far as Wilder goes; he is what he is. His late-comer status and lack of amateur experience do make him sort of a questionmark. However, thus far he's done almost 100% of what's been asked of him. I think people like to point out his amateur losses to show he's not unbeatable, which is true, he's not unbeatable. Same goes for Joshua too.

I try to avoid summing up a fighter on the result of a single fight whether that is a good result or bad result.
