Ya Joff you got a point .. AJ does have a 41 year old, 21 years into it Wlad on his resume .. That does surpass Liston's taking out Big Cat in 2 and again in 3 and nice guy Floyd Patterson twice in 1, it took Ali 12 rounds to take out nice guy Patterson in '65

Well I think aj is skilled and all, but Liston was more so, aj hits hard but Liston hits harder, hell I don' know whose more durable after watching wlad land those 6 or 7 big right hands an ajs face. I think liston wins this by k.o. in the late rounds, Anthony looked tired fighting wlad.

Listons too mean with too good of a jab for Anthony

No, you just saw a cool highlight compilation of Liston with really dramatic jumpcuts to a soundtrack. So you're gonna pick him.

Liston vs Joshua would look a lot like Liston vs. Cleveland Williams

Show one of these primary sourced articles? Otherwise its just unsubstantiated BS because the ringside fight report doesn't mention a knockdown.
How about Marshall, how many of his fights have you seen to state categorically Joshua has 5 times his skill?

It seems like your not impressed with any modern heavyweight skills. Can you explain why? Joshua is skilled as in fighter or out fighter. He uses an uppercut and body shots, has a good ( But not a great jab ) and a very good right hand.

For now I'd favor Liston too, but its not a sure thing.

Only apply the "how many elite fighters of x pounds did he beat?" argument to fighters you hate.

I had a dream last night that I was at thanksgiving dinner and I was trying to convince a relative why AJ would beat Joe Frazier, but he was adamant that Frazier would beat AJ

What do you mean by modern ? Which era ?
    Do you mean current ?
Currently there's not a lot of skill been displayed by active heavyweights.

He has a good arsenal, yes. I'm talking about demonstrating world class boxing skills, not just punching.

The Wladimir who turned up for Joshua was a monster who made a mockery of his actual age. Critics of AJ always point out Wlad's age and pathetic loss to Fury and how long he had been out of action but none of that jives with the herculean performance Klitschko mustered for his last hurrah. So to me Joshua's victory over Klitchko is absolutely a better win than any of Liston.

I don't understand what you're getting at mentioning Patterson going 12 with Clay?

I made a similar post the last day in general about this but the way I see it is that hardcore fans underrate Joshua, maybe as a result of how hyped and overrated he gets by casual fans and media? As for classicists, you guys tend to distrust a heavily muscular physique.

A lot more to boxing than a heavily muscular physique .. I'm well aware that size and weight can be an advantage, but it's not a given.. Like you said you didn't follow Liston which is obvious with your unwillingness to give him credit for making such short work out of Patterson and Williams. You dismiss Patterson as a "nice guy" like he's a nobody .. Beating Wlad is a great win for AJ .. But if you think a 41 year old Wlad was even close to at his best .. we disagree. Your whole assessment here and reference to Liston being "the dinky guy in the corner" is your lack of knowledge about boxing and simply a "millennial" boxing fan statement..

If my memory is right you didn't think much of Lewis or the 1990's heavyweights.

Joshua has some flaws, but he' very skilled. To say otherwise is wrong.

    Liston would bury AJ
